And the one time you're car may have a brake problem could possibly be the one time you need to stop going downhill at the track. I'm not chancing it. Plus, that track lay-out is about confusing as hell, and jammed in the staging lanes if you get more than 30 cars in... I'll stick to the beach.

Have you been up there in a while. They have changed the staging lanes. They have 5-6 rows for cars now. Anyways are cars anit that fast yet. The beach is a better and faster track. But if your running at the duck and your time is getting low 8s at the duck your a 7s car at the beach.. I would rather run at the slower track and get my times down there..For I now my car is faster then what Iam running..

Whenever you hear anybody talk about the local 1/8th mile track, its always summerduck. There's one reason. The other reason is the fact that I'm riding on my stock calipers/pads/rotors. And these rotors warp easy as hell, I'm not trying to even risk replacing those (not yet). And my last point is that the beach is actually a few miles and almost 10 minutes closer to my house than the duck. Definately not going out of my way to go to the duck. But hell, I haven't even been to either track yet this year, so I don't really have much room to talk (not yet).

Colonial beach go new owners this year and there gonna do alot of upgrades. They said they might make it 1/4 mile again. Next year the track is gonna be concrete the whole track. I'd rather run at colonial beach also. Its flat and it don't go up hill. My car is faster there too..

Concrete? Really? Hmm.... not too sure what to think of that
Have you ran your car yet with the new DRs?

I took the DR's of the ZR1s because it set off lights in my dash and my abs wouldn't work.Because they where 28" tall and where 2" taller then the fronts..Concrete will be better you wont spin on concrete like on ashpalt..
This Saturday the hideout had a good turnout at the BK in manassass..

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Living here in Phoenix I get to race at either Firebird (closer to home for me) or Speedworld (slightly faster track for me). Both are about 1200 feet above sea level but the DA is usually closer to 3k+. I'd kill to be back at sea level (I'm originally from Los Angeles so I know what it's like).
One of my buddies on my local board found a DA calculator to convert ET at altitude down to sea level. At sea level my car would be a 12.2x second ride.
That's ok as I'm happy (for now) with an all stock bolt on only car running consistant 12.6x times. It's gonna take going into the engine (heads or cam or both) to get it to run much faster. It's a dichotomy though as I like being able to drive it cross country if I want.

Back in the day I raced at Orange County International Raceway (OCIR, maybe 150 feet above sea level), Brotherhood Raceway on Terminal Island (maybe 20 feet above sea level, sometimes there was a negative DA) and later at Los Angeles County Raceway (LACR) which was at 3500 feet elevation. I had to change jets to get the car(s) to run right. This was back during the 70's thru 90's. All these tracks have since closed
It's a lot easier having a fuel injected car with a computer making adjustments for ya.
Calculator is below:

I can get from the Spotsy Courthouse (where I live) to Quarry Road (Manassas Parkj), in a little less than 40 minutes, leaving at 4am in the morning. If I leave at 5:30 it takes me an hour and a half.
Sitting in rough hour traffic every day AFTER work... well, I'm not game for trying it during a Friday or Saturday night. I'll deal with the mustangs down here, screw it

Here is the DA calc I use.
http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_da.htm
Weather site I use to get all the info. Just put in your Zip...
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...st?query=74014
And FYI I do the Zip of our track. It sits at 612 feet..Last edited by Z28Thunder; 04-14-2010 at 05:38 PM.
