Pewter- 1999 Camaro SS-M6 #1775
I looked at these but i dont want to pay $300 for an ORY pipe
why is it bad to put the 1 7/8 primary on my car?
Im not going to be doing too many mods may a h/c package later on and i will be putting on a 100-150 shot of Nitrous.

Thanks!

If you plan on doing heads and cam and spraying definately go with the 1 7/8"
headers.

The QTP y pipe blows anyway. I'd go with Kooks instead.

It's not a bad idea. Actually I am surprised that others here have not seen the side by side dyno comparisons on the 1 7/8 and the 1 3/4 inch headers on a stock LS1. It's been done many times and has shown the the 1 7/8 inch headers don't hurt the motor at all.
As a matter of fact the motor made exactly the same power accross the board, with only a 1-2 HP increase in a few spots, but pretty much the dyno runs were identical on a stock motor. Shows that the 1 3/4 headers get the job done, but stepping up to 1 7/8 headers doesn't hurt anything on a stock LS1. And if going with a more radical setup or larger cubic inch the 1 7/8 headers would actually be beneficial at that point.

They sure as hell don't look like tuned length headers, you can visually see that the primaries for the rearmost cylinders are shorter than the primaries for the front cylinders. Not to mention thats a ridiculous price to pay for header that aren't stainless. Get stainless steel, if you're insistant on getting them coated, have it done aftermarket.

Exactly. Its pretty well known that 409 stainless is the cheapest grade of stainless, which is a ripoff considering the price of the SLP headers. For what they charge, it should be 321 stainless, or at the very least 304.
My XS headers are made from 321, which is aircraft grade stainless steel. I've been very happy with them.

All the kooks headers are upwards of $1000
the QTP's look good, but i dont want to have to buy there $300 y-pipe
What would you recommend that is good quality for the price?
Ive looked at Pacesetter and Jet hots but im not sure about there quality.
I dont want to spend a fortune on headers.
Thanks

I think I might have a solution for you:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708711
They are the headers that I have, and I've been more than happy with them. Install was easy, no cutting required. Just need to get the y-pipe bent downwards after the collector to help it clear the floorboard.
