Most people like 1911 triggers. They are short and light single action triggers. Your XD is a striker fire gun, so the trigger will feel much different. It is also a duty gun with no manual safety. A light, short trigger like a 1911 could be very dangrous for a gun like that especially if you plan to carry it.

230grain is a big size for .45. Try a hotter load or maybe the gun just shoots really nice lol.

That's double what I shoot out of my 9mm; 115 grain. I want to say my .357 Sig is 140.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

Yea, I usually reload 165grain and 180 grain for .40. I like 240 grain for .44mag, and I make em super hot lol. Thank god for the ported barrel, makes a massive difference compared to shooting them out of friends .44s.

I just meant a round with more powder charge in it or sometimes better brands have faster burning powder which makes the rounds fire at a higher velocity. The downside is more recoil, the upside is a faster moving round that does more damage.

Too much grain isn't a good thing either, meaning beyond acceptable limits

some manufactured ammo will have either +P or +P+ printed on the box, ..these are "hotter" than standard loads, ...i believe the standards are set by SAAMI... if you are going to use +P or +P+ ammo, you should always check your firearm's manual to see if it's safe to shoot it...

Figured as much. I'll probably stick with 230 since I seemed to shoot really accurate with it once I got use to the gun. At some point I may experiment though but only to a point that is still safe.

I meant the 1911 that Jon was talking about. I'm surprised there is no 10mm XD though.

10mm is a badass round no doubt. But .45acp has some advantages. The main ones being price and availability. 10mm is hard to find and when you do they generally want your first born for it. They say 10mm has more recoil but it is not abig difference. .45acp out of a 1911 is also one of the easiest rounds to shoot for most shooters. It was designed to put two legged targets down and it does so very well. A slug that size hits you even if it is only moving 900fps it will still put down a full grown man.

I always find my FMJ target ammo cheaper in local stores than online, but my carry ammo is always cheaper online. Would be nice to buy all of it at once at one place..lol
