i'd simmer down because the fact is that the viper is a whole other creature then the vette. period. i love the Z. it is faster..just a hair. and handles well. but i have had the privilege of driving a 03 viper srt10 and a 05 Z06 and i can say that at least for me the viper fits my wants more. i didnt get to really push the Z because mr.powell just picked it up. but was selling his viper so that could skew my feelings. but the viper is just a very crude big muscular car..really a basic..primal feeling...you, torque and tons of power and the road. and thats the feeling i love. the vette is a whole different feeling...you feel like a GT class racer...you feel like tight, latched in..and with plenty of power to have fun. but w/e you need to chill your ass out 2000. if you want to talk about overpriced..talk about the GT. and dont ever talk about gas mileage when comparing sportscars. you might as well compare floor mats while your at it

and brand new the vipers cost 83-85k you can pick one up for 60k. so what were you saying about a down payment on a house and a vette? yea maybe with a c5 Z

They only reason i dont like vipers is because there engine is so inefficient, think about it a 8.0liter or the 8.3liter V-10 only make as much power as GMs 7.0liter v8, ok its make 5more hp. Its a waste of engine

This is true, but look at the 2008. 8.4L v-10 with 600bhp and 550 ft/lbs of tq. It may be nose heavy and ineffecient, but its like that for a reason. The people that buy these things only want it to be different and for its image. Sure they could put a HEMI in it that is smaller, more powerful, and more effecient, but then it wouldn't have the status of a handbuilt v-10. The HEMI name has been tarnished in the same manner that Chevy's SS nameplate has been. There are only a few thousand Vipers built each year to keep its exotic status.
The Viper is a status symbol.

I hold the SLR Mclaren or the carrera GT are in a whole league above the viper in my book. The new 6.3supercharged vette is just insane.

Yeah..both of those cars are 400k+. Im not saying that the Viper is the best car out there, but that its a status symbol for some people.
I would take a Vette over a Viper anyday. For one, I can actually work on/mod. the motor.

This is completely off topic but i saw a c5 z06 with forged internals and a roots style supercharger at hwy 100 the other day, which is where everyone races, he took me for a ride now that is my dream car it had the annoying supercharger whine on a ls2 lol. He ran low 9s with it and it drove so nice. Thats what i want and personally i would rather have a tricked out Trans Am or vette over a tricked out viper.

ALL the time... had a friend lean out the window a few times screaming "Mine is faster than yours" LOL.. then later Found out its because he can't drive it... from a 60 roll.. he had me by a couple of cars.. but from a 30.. I wasted him.. sounded like he missed TWO shifts.. Yeah, all he does is stand there in his dockers and sweater with those god aweful sunglasses leaning against his car like he's Fonzie or something.. lol.

Haha, I never see him driving, I think he sits at the gas station till late at night when no one is really around, then leaves. Yeah, he does dress pretty gay though, not to mention I do believe he has a god awful flat top, no offense to anyone that may have one, but they are out of date. And shit if he's missing two shifts he should have just settled for the ultimate performance car... the Ford Escort. I saw a previous comment stating he sits there to pick up chicks... and I must say he I don't even think he can even get a showing with that car... because of the above mentioned.
But what about the JVille Ninja, havn't seen that dude out in awhile!

a waste? wtf? its a v10. and i can guarantee you the ls7 wont ever see the torque that mopar motor will....ever.
the point is that dodge was safe in my opinion. i think that either its very conservatively tuned or they fibbed the numbers. no doubt in my mind it could be a monster in its current form. 2 more cylinders, more cubes, more torque.
the vette is so light that it equalizes what it lacks in rwtq. its built entirely different for an entirely different purpose. the corvette was never a drag car, it started on the oval track and developed into an instrument for the track...just so happens its fast as shit down the strip.
the viper however is well behaved (from what ive read) on the track but theres really no fucking doubt what it came to do...not that any of the mostly douche bag owners would take it to the drag strip anyway.
you also cited hennessy as an expensive aftermarket tuner for the viper, i suppose to make more of a case for the z06. ever heard of lingenfelter? they arent exactly cheap either.
still though, in my world.....
