Wow, good thing my dad bought the fj back in 08 instead of the trail edition 4 runner i wanted him to get instead, 30k on it and he bought it with 6 miles, he's had no issues out of it whatsoever, im impressed with it, i like driving it, i didn't at first but got used to it, toyota did a nice job with that thing imo + theres alot of aftermarket that exists for it also which is even better.
But sadly i only like the tacoma's, tundras and 4 runners other than the fj, everything else from toyota is pretty weak....

All this talk about buy american well cnn reported that ford may have to recall a bunch of vehicles to. They buy the pedal mechanism from the same supplier that Toyota was buying from. Nobody mentioned the cover up that gm had a few years back when they had the same problem. Instead of issuing a voluntary recall they just paid out 40 million to the family of the ones that were killed in the accident and covered it up. The recall would have cost them over 500 million as what it will cost toyota. You guys can argue that buy american crap but all manufacturers out source to foreign companys for parts. The bottom line toyota and all other manufacturers employ lots of americans.

Never said anything about G.M.'s profit,or lack of.G.M recieved a bad rep for years for building shit cars from the media, which is part, but not all of the reason people jumped on the foreign car bandwagon.G.M. builds cars that are just as good if not better than honda and toyota.Granted G.M. put together some shit cars in the 80's and 90's,but so did everybody else...you only heard about G.M.'s though.

all manufacturers have recalls. period. Another thing people either forget or dont realize is that a lot of the parts/components in a car are not made by the automaker. Theres parts suppliers that make the stuff. Ie theres 2 different brands of gas pedals that toyotas use, the cts brand and denso. CTS is the bad pedal. Remember all those ford explorers that were flipping over via bad tires by firestone? Ford took a lot of heat for that, but it was defective tires to blame.

FACT: I work at the southern Indiana TOYOTA plant with 4300 other mostly Americans, (lots of red necks)Very few asians, mostly in upper management and support positions. While most of the profits go to japan our anul payroll is over 100,000,000 and research centers here in the states cost 1,000,000 per hour to operate. Not to mention all the suppliers. Very few of our parts come from japan. Bottom line: Toyota is no different than any other manufacturer, they have just held that quality spotlight for so long that everyone notices these recalls. Also keep in mind that toyota has not laid of any full time employees through the recent recession, burning through billions in that cash that went to japan to keep Americans working.
