Hey Sarge, what oil do you think i should run, 5-30 or 10-30? And what brand works best (synthetic)? My car is 2000 z28, has about 85k on the clock, i bought it from the original owner who has said he has always run mobile1. I thought i read somewhere on here (from you) that there is something better than mobile1. Also, i dont know if it matters but i live in sacramento, CA. We can get a little over 100* in the summer, we have been in the 90s this week. The car isnt my daily driver, and will see the track once in a while and the usual weekend driving. Also how often (miles) do you recommend changing the oil?

Penzoil Platnum is better than Mobile 1 and i think costs alittle less. Amsoil which i would say is the best, makes a great product, and the prices are very close (prefered customer prices).

Use a quality SM rated oil. Synthetic or Conventional reasonable oil change intervals and quality oil/air filter and your motor will last.
If you used Royal Purple and Zmax did you buy them "make my weeiner bigger pills" also?
Just fucking with you man.....LOL....
Off the shelf you will be hard pressed to get better results than with Pennzoil Platinum 10-30 and a AC Delco filter(s). Boutique oils that justify expense is Shaeffers and Amsoil.
By the way Royal Purple didn't make the SM cut so they are not API SM certified.

I know where Sacramento is. You guys got all the homo socialist bitches there....LOL......It is Mobil1 ...Mobile is a town in Alabama....Now that I am finished screwing around.....
Pennzoil Platinum 10-30 will give you better protection and results than Mobil1. The only way to know if your changing your oil at proper intervals is a UOA......get a free kit then pay the $25 bucks and lets have a look.

Ahh, thanks Sarge. I will go with a 10-30 Amsoil then. I will get a analysis done after the next oil change or two also.
LOL and thanks for the geography/brand lesson. Yes, sacramento blows asshole, i hate it and this state. Want to go to kentucky or texas. But for now im stuck here.

That's OK. The purpose of all these years of communicating/discussing oil is to educate people in their oil selection and get them to base that decision on facts and not bullshit marketing garbage. Amsoil is a great company and make outstanding products. I have no agenda with any particular brand. I do love Shaeffers Oil.....but am not biased by it when discussing oils. I don't care for a biased opinion but prefer a facts based opinion. I'll drag you into a comparison discussion and we will exercise your oil knowledge.....and mine

I'll try. I am still alittle new to the business and am still learning about the specs and everything. I am, however, extremely impressed with the results in my vehicle. The customers I have sold to and installed AMSOIL in their vehicles all have given excellent feedback. One customer even noted a 20 degree drop in his water temp immediately after switching. That wasx in a 1960 Ford truck with a modified engine. Anyway, as I said, I am still learning. I started reading this post from the beginning and have already picked up a lot of knowledge from you and the rest of the posts.

Oh, and sarge, so youve found schaeffers is also up their with amsoil? I found out i know somone who is a dealer and i might be able to get a good deal on that. I was debating between the two before, but wanted to make sure from your analysis that either or both are safe. Thanks for the help. OH, and In N Out is one of the few good things about this foresaken place
