I'm hoping I can do something like this with my son, he is currently 5, and I am 47. But by doing the math, when he is 27 I will be (hope to be still alive!) 69. Dammit. Anyway, I can promise to still have a fast car, always have and always will.

Well, this is my 1988 Trans Am GTA. I've done a couple custom touches inside, added a 58mm Throttle body to the 305 TPI, swapped from suckomatic to T5 manual, and we suspect an LT1 cam by her sound...but otherwise she's stock.

Here's what she looked like when I got her...

And here's what I've done with her in the last two years...

its not a chevy or a trans am but its been in the famialy since 75, made a promise to an old man that id finish her out one day, has 390ci bored .40 and a 4 speed, and in the next few monthes im going to go back through the motor and put the 3 deuce on, hotrod farm truck hows that for a suprise

I've always liked the GTAs too. And I love how you described the tranny swap! Yours looks great.

One thing I was not a fan of was the specific front/rear wheels. No joy in rotating those, but you can go L to R.

Yeah, the suckomatics really kill the joy in these cars. After she ate three, I said "screw this" and put in the manual. Haven't had a problem since...

The wheels are a huge pain for the typical owner, but I'm a mechanic with occasional access to a tire-mounting machine, so it's not a huge deal for me to rotate them...and I don't put enough miles on her to need it. The tires are directional, so I can't even go L to R...

Ya I've had a couple cars like that, including an 88 Iroc L98. No choice but to break the tires down to rotate them. fun fun.

Yes it is. It took 8 years in the building process. We just did part of the HotRod Power Tour with the car. They picked it @ Indy & did a photo shoot so it Should be featured sometime in the future.
