Well Mobil5000 is a GRPII...Pennzoil Yellow bottle is a GRPII+ (for comparison)....Mobil5000 has a decent add pack....but for $2 a quart I find it to be a good value....
Pennzoil add packs come from Infinium
Mobil add packs come from Lubrizoil
Infinium is a higher end add pack......
So if Pennzoil Yellow Bottle and Mobil 5000 were the same price (or close) I would go with PYB....but if the cost variance was greater than $0.50 per quart you can feel good about yourself with Mobil5000.

High Mileage oils
My wife's grocery getter is a 2003 Chevrolet MonteCarlo SS (3.8 V6). It is approaching 170K miles. It has been fed a steady diet of PP, and Valvoline Synpower every 5K. Blackstone UOA every oil change, good results every time.
However the engine is now starting to leak oil slightly. This vehicle is past the point where I wish to invest significant funds in it. I do not wish to continue UOAs or spend the extra money for synthetic lubricants.
What lubricants might I use to address the oil seepage problem, and maintain this vehicle during its projected remaining life (30K)?

Now that I've seen people ride down Zmax as an additive, what can I use to clean out the barbeque in my valvetrain...??

Thanks Sarge. I have one bottle of Auto RX left. I knew there was a reason for saving it.

Castrol Edge
As I am out to verify Castrol's claims for Edge I am establishing a baseline. This is the latest UOA from my grocery getter. It has seen Mobil 1 5/30, Valvoline Synpower 10/30, and PP 10/30. The latest fill is PP 10/30, with a run of 5,000M. The PP is going to be a tough act to follow.
I now have Castrol Edge 10/30 in with about 1,700M so far on this run.
In a couple of months I will post the Castrol Edge results.
Then I will refill with Edge 10/30. Go another 5,000M, and get a Dyson Analysis.
The results will be posted, the truth will be told.

Hey Sarge!
Sarge, if you are impressed by my UOA, I know it must be good. Now lets see if Castrol can match the hype. This is going to be fun. 2,000M into my run, 3,000 to go. Then one more 5,000M run and Terry gets the sample.

Cleaners...
Y2KArcticSS, it's not advisable to use cleaner additives with the SSO 0W-30 100% synthetic motor oil you are currently using. Know that the SSO has an aggressive additive package and is already hard at work cleaning the inside of your engine. This is where paying a little extra for a top grade motor oil provides a great value... No need to fork out the extra bucks for oil additives/cleaners etc.
Also, pay close attention to your oil level as you may experience some oil consumption while all the cleaning is happening with your first run of SSO.

2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
I appreciate the advice, CompSyn. I still have 2 quarts of my SSO after initial oil change, and I check the oil at least every other time I get gas (I drive 100 miles a day, so that's about twice a week). Good to know that my money was well spent. My engine needs the cleaning, I turned 150k yesterday.
