Just realized I may potentially have an issue after the dyno. If I hit over 850 rwtq I'm going to need a new clutch. Old setup made just over 800 rwtq. Question is, how much more torque will she pick up with bigger heads, can, and intake Welp.... guess I'll have to see saturday

Well I pulled the radiator on the Vert Sunday. I had a feeling it may have been clogged after changing the water pump and still not having any flow Glad I did. Under low pressure with my garden hose I began to flush. At first it wasn't draining for crap but then it started flowing sorta slimy crap out, then it just opened up and a flood of water flows thru. I inspected all the hoses as well and even though they were clear I'm just going to replace them anyways. One has a sorta looks like it's going to fail soon, so why not do it now. I know the heater core is good to go.

Fun with slime! I might be slightly complaining because I just realized while everything was out I should have put a Spec twin disc clutch and flywheel in while it was apart!

Reminds me of when I built my engine...twice. 1st time I just was trying to get it back running again. But thanks to a rod bolt failure on test drive I went to the 403 like I wanted to do in the 1st place. I'm betting my car just rejected the stockish rebuilt and let me know it wasn't going to accept it.

Welp.... The good news is the fuel system held together beautifully on the dyno! The bad news is the transmission went kaboom at about 800 rwtq. HP stopped at about 885 rwhp when it went kaboom on once again a partial tune. Car is making some great power and the engine is sounds. Just letting the car tell me what needs to be replaced Currently getting ready to get the car in the air to yank the transmission and see how bad it is. Then checking the rear end and ordering a new one. It's been 6 months since I last drove her. I'm about to start a survival diary Day 180. California. It is a hot 90 degree day. Everything was going well. Then chaos! It has now been 180 days since I last felt happiness and joy. I am empty as I remove the shell of a transmission that once was. Old friend you have served me well over the last 12 years. I am sorry that I unleashed that hellish beast we have dubbed "Vortech" on you. I will rebuild you my old friend but you will never be the same. I must now search the plains of the internet and find the one they call....Magnum

Tick has them. Send in your shell and they rebuild the guts. Stronger, faster, the 6 million...oh wait wrong show.
Tick told me if I break mine (Lvl3) then the Magnum is my only option if I want to stay manual. Sounds like you need to convert to auto for that beast though.

Well it was on stands for 2 yrs, then engine was rebuilt as well as new rear and tranny 1st attempt too, then on test drive had a rod bolt failure and had to tear the engine back out and that took another 7 months for parts and figuring out why it wasn't tuning right. Then after having it back it breaks again, this time the tranny completely it's self adding another 5 more months.
So off of stands for test drives and tuning can count as being on stand time IMO.

I might have already won with 4 years on jackstands Blew the engine pre 408, took me a year to figure out what to do. Spend the next 6 months sourcing and ordering parts. Sent the engine to the machine shop which took 6 months to complete. Once I got the engine back waited another year as I was sourcing blower parts. As the parts were sourcing I was installing said 408. Fired it up at the 2 1/2 year mark to make sure it fired and test drove to work out the N/A kinks. Once all the blower parts were in I started fabbing the install which finished after about 7 months. So 3 years and 7 months is my jackstand time!

I take it it's been quiet in this thread because it's summer and everyone but me is out driving their Trans Am's and Firebird's to make up for lost winter time right?

Finally got the Tick MC bolted in. What a royal pita. Waiting for someone to come by to help me bleed it.
