    it can be traced. The ip is logged. talk to craigslist's fraud and see if they wont release the ip..after that..you start to have some fun...a simple ip lookup will give you the service provider and city. let me make this clear..you can not be anonymous on the internet completely. everything gets logged and can be traced.

    yeah... but most people do not have the means to completely trace some one to thier exact location via the web...

    using proxies you can basicly totally hide yourself.

    even if you had the IP address? Your going to call the ISP and ask who used it at that time? GL with that you'd have to have the cops subpoena it from the ISP

    worth noting that the cia/fbi and other orginizations have been known to hack a proxy server and reroute the traffic through their computer/server quite often. I have even herd of the riaa doing things like that..personally i dont know if the riaa thing is true due to the legality of that. My boss just got back from a san's conference in denver and there they taught them how to hack proxies ect. All good network managers/admins are usually by definition hackers them selfs..due to the fact that in order to stop the hackers you need to know what the hackers use and do..and that hackers and managment use alot of the same tools.
