That incident wouldn't have happened to be me would it? You just described exactly what I did about 4 years ago down in Sumerset, Kentucky for the big cruise they have down there.
We were on the morning cruise down to the falls, and ran a C5 vette to about 70 mph, (all we had room for) and I murdered that thing. Once at our destination I had to pop the hood for him to see the little V-6 with a hairdryer. Dude was not happy

Pewter- 2001 Camaro SS hard top
haha, no that wasn't the one i saw, this was in Fort Wayne, IN about 5 or 6 years ago, me and my freind had just turned 16 and were cruising around and we pulled up right behind a syclone and a C5 right before the took of, the C5 sounded pretty mean but the scy. got the jump (AWD will do that for ya) and the vette just couldn't make back up the ground, it was awsome

we had a tb.ss and i hate to admit it but this jeep would destroy it!!! we just took the jeep to the strip last sunday and turned a 13.23 with it, and our tb.ss ran a best of 14.2. that is a hudge diffrience,
If i lived near you i would love to race you.... I have a 06 TBSS modded out and wouldn't ever think of spending 50k on a Jeep!

Body flex and no handling/branking with the TBSS. Jeep SRTs have posted 12.90s stock. The TBSS is a straightline machine, that's it. Like a GT500 vs. a Vette.

I honestly mean no offense by this post. I'm not knocking the SS by any means. I had one and loved it. But comparing a TBSS that can be picked up brand new for the sub-$25k range to a GC SRT8 is like comparing an apple to a grapefruit.
BTW, $23,950 is a damned nice price on any TBSS. Good job on the deal you you made.

I am saying if you're going to compare the two vehicles, compare them as equally equipped as possible.
Here are the options available for the 08 GCSRT8 at the time of my order (May 2007):
ParkSense™ Rear Park Assist System / ParkView™ Rear Back-Up Camera / Rear View Auto Dim Mirror with Microphone / UConnect® Hands-Free Communication / Sirius Satellite Traffic / 115V Auxiliary Power Outlet / Air Conditioning Automatic Temperature Control With Dual Zone Control / Auto Dim Exterior Driver Mirror / Auto Dim Exterior Passenger Mirror / Deluxe Door Trim Panel / Exterior Mirrors with Heating Element / Exterior Mirrors with Memory / Heated Front Seats / Memory For Radio, Driver Seat, & Mirrors, / Power 8-Way Driver Memory 4-Way Passenger Seats / Power Adjustable Pedals with Memory / Power Heated Fold-Away Memory Mirrors / Rain Sensitive Windshield Wipers / Remote Start System / Smartbeam™ HID Headlamps With Automatic Headlamp Leveling System / MyGIG™ Multimedia Infotainment with Navigation AM/FM/CD/DVD/HDD MP3 Radio with 6.5" TouchScreen, USB Interface, Hard Drive with Music Management Database / Heated Second Row Seats / Rear DVD Entertainment System Group / Engine Block Heater
Fully loaded with everything available, it had a MSRP of $47,220.
I built a fully loaded SS on Chevy.com and it came to $42,280.
You have a $4920 difference in the two. And for that price difference, you get a touch-screen navi unit that, alone, would cost several thousand dollars to get all the equivalent features. Plus you get the remote start, rear backup assist, backup camera, rear heated seats, self-leveling HID headlights & a blue-tooth interface. In fact, I would say it would cost well in excess of the $4920 to get everything in the SS to make it a truly equally equipped vehicle. That being said, I would say loaded to loaded, you actually get more vehicle for less money with the Jeep.

man if u paid 42k for the ss fully equipped (i have em all minus navi which is 2k) than u got seriously ripped off, but again u bought the Jeep for over 40k, haha.
Bottom line is we both own fast SUV's and thats all that matters is we are both happy, peace.

LOL! No, I didn't pay $42k for a loaded SS. $42k is GM's sticker price for a fully loaded one. I paid $35k for my SS (fully loaded except Navi & rear DVD).
Now as far as my Jeep, yea I paid over $40k. But I didn't pay sticker.
But yea, you're right about both vehicles being awesome rides and at the end of the day, everybody is happy. Hell, I like the rivalry between the two. That's what is going to keep GM & Chrysler on their toes and give us some nice vehicles to go at each-other with for some time to come I hope.

HOLY GADGETS BATMAN!!!!
Do you guys really need that much crap on a vehicle? I am happy with just a steering wheel, brake and gas pedal. Hell I still like my crank up windows
But I'm an old fart.

Naaa,,,my wifes loves the old stuff too. Just less to worry about breaking and much cheaper on the wallet when it comes to repairs. What wife doesn't like that? We don't really need AC and I don't mind rolling up my own windows. These old hotrods we have with manual everything must have some appeal with the prices they are commanding now. I think some people are just getting soft,,,,lol.
