FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son. Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."

That's why WWE should have never run that 3 hour tribute not knowing what really happened.

Now they glorified a complete and useless piece of shit.

That is the problem, everyone was saddened because he was a respectable guy in the ring, and was fun to watch. But no one here really knew him, so we all felt bad for him.. Come to find out he was a Murder and not only that a Child murder (His own child!!)---

I think he is scum, and his wife and child are resting somewhere better, while he is surely not (that is my belief anyway)

News conference notes from Fayetteville, GA:

- Lt. Pope: WWE called police officials at 2:30PM on Monday over concern for Benoit’s well being. Police found all three bodies in the home. “Double Homicide Suicide” is the official ruling.

- It appears Benoit killed his wife on Friday, his son shortly after, and likely hanged himself either late Saturday night or early Sunday.

- No suicide note was left behind.

- Asphyxiation is the official ruling for Benoit’s wife and son deaths.

- Benoit was previously arrested for a DUI.

- A lot of prescription medication was found in the home, legal prescriptions.

- Police found anabolic steroids in the home.

- No comment from police regarding a possible motivation.

- He killed himself several hours, but no more than a day, after killing son Daniel.

- Police is unaware of prior domestic violence.

- District Attorney Scott Ballard stated that a Bible was placed near each murder victim.

- Benoit bond Nancy’s hands and feet and she was wrapped in a towel. Blood was found near Nancy’s body.

- In 2003, a temporary restraining order was sought but later dropped.

- Benoit made no attempt to hide the bodies.

- The DA himself has not heard from WWE.

- Daniel was found in an upstairs bedroom. Benoit’s wife was also found in an upstairs family room, and Benoit hung himself in the weight room in the basement.

- The toxicology reports are still pending. It will probably take more than two weeks for the reports to be finished.

- Benoit apparently called WWE stating that Daniel was coughing up blood, thus likely the “personal reasons” for missing weekend house shows.

As more and more facts of the case are made public, it sounds more like pre-meditated murder than a rage to me. Maybe I am wrong, who really knows, but a rage would be more of an impulse act to me, not thought out and spread out over 3 days.

I am by no means trying to say he wasn't on roids either, I think its pretty apparent he was.

Ive never heard of a roid rage so large it resulted in killing a son. Sorry, but steroids are not to blame.

maybe chris and his wife got into an argument after their son went to bed? and then he killed her in a fit of "roid-rage" then after thinking about it, he was his son's biggest hero. and he let him down.. so he killed his son in his sleep.

then after contemplating the time he'd do, how big of an ass he'd be, the questions he'd have to answer, etc.. he just offed himself in a way where there was no mistake he was gonna die.

I will not hodl WWE in ill will, they had NO information and had to do something. What if he had been murder by scum, and they did the regular show? People would have hated them even more!!! After the Hart issue, tey where being proactive. And yet the worst happened.

I agree with the above. WWE had a 3 hour live commitment with USA to fulfill. They couldn't just sit back and do nothing. They had no knowledge at the time what Benoit had done. I am sure none of the wrestlers wanted to perform. They did what they thought was best at the time with what they knew. Its just a bad situation for all and I don't have any idea what they could have done differently under the circumstances.
