you obvously dont know any thing about those cars. They have two tottally different power plants. One is a 4.6 3V N/A(the GT) and the other is a 5.4 4V super charged(the GT500)...

know what your talking about before you say something.

did I say it had a 4.6 that was SC ...No I said it had a SC motor ... The Z06 is a race proven car in Engine and handling .. As a matter of fact in came in second in the 24 hours of Lemans in the GT1 class .. The Shelby does on thing good ...go fast in a straight line ..

Yes it does good as what it was built for... It wasn't built to run at laguna seca, or mid ohio. It was built to run the 1/4 and tear up the street.

The mustang has nothing to do with a corvette! They are in two differnt classes. The camaro and t/a are what the mustang has to compete with, well they USED to, anyway.

The differences between the z06's, the gt500s, the mustang gts and then their race versions is A LOT! A c6r is practically an entirely different car then a z06. The z06 shares a lot of the race proven technology from the corvette race cars but to presume that because the mustang is being put into racing they must be the same as what the public offers is ludicrous. Your comment about the new gt500 going fast in a straight line and the handling not being as good as it should be, I agree with that. Ford didn't work the suspension as much as they did in the prior 03-04 cobras. But there is a ton of parts available to rectify that. The s197 mustangs dont handle as bad as everyone thinks they do and they can be made to handle as good as you could want them to. Street driven anyways. I wonder how many of you have actually driven a new mustang?

I know about the factory racer Ford has for the Mustang , comes out of a shop in Canada, I belive ,and competes in the Koni Challange ..and is not doing this year as well as last year .... there is a GT500 looking Stang in Grand Am series but cought on fire , I think it was in 5th at Lime rock ...and not to mention all the local SCCA Mustangs they have ... I As most people know I dont judge a car on just how it does in the 1/4 mile .. And I drove 2 new Mustangs ..a auto hard top and a Manual Rag top ... Like I said I might have had one if it wasnt for the GTO....

FoMoCo's confirming today they'll be taking their first step into European road racing. They're looking to get the Mustang-derived FR500GT, also known as the "Man Racer," and FR500C, also known as the "Boy Racer," approved for FIA competition. The "Boy Racer" (sorry, we just dig these "official" nicknames) is getting ready for GT4 competition in FIA, and the "Man Racer" will be tooling up for GT3 competition.

Yeah those are race cars... not street cars. They share little to nothing with the street cars. Hell the "man racer" is all carbon fiber body panels if im not mistaken, try to find that on a street car...

kinda like my point .. The Z06 is a car that has been refined every since the days of the C4 ... to truly even use what it is capable off you would have to take it to a track ...Road Course .. And the GT500 would be no match for it , and its extra HP would probably be a disadvantage .... the super Snake will be the same way ... Too much HP for that body to Handel

Ford is the one trying to put the GT500 KR in the same class as the Z06 because the Z06 smoked the GT500! Obviously 500hp wasn't enough to compete with GM's 500 HP.

The fr500 cars have naturally aspirated engines... Did you know that? The super snake will handle fine with the upgraded suspension Ford has planned for it. Once again Mustangs are pony cars, Corvettes are sports cars.... Why this is hard to understand is about to make my head explode. When the camaro comes out and is a very similar car to the new mustang will you guys allow me to repeatedly slam how it doesnt compete with Ferraris? How about the Saleen S7? Perhaps the 600hp viper?

    It is more than enough.

Put that LS7 in a car and run.
Put the blown 5.4 in the exact same car and run.
Bet the ET's are VERY similiar.

The C6Z06 is what makes the LS7 so impressive. Not the motor.
Now...don't take that as a knock on the motor. It too is quite impressive. But so is the Ford powerplant.

I dont want you guys to think I'm slamming the vettes cause its my dream car. I jus wish people would let the vette do what its supposed to do. Beat sports cars at its price point and above. Which it does very well. I would love an c6z06 that outperforms v8 ferraris. Jus like I would love a gt500 that will give most cars a real run for their money at a traffic light. But really what this discussion comes down to is that everyone here jus hates mustangs, even more then jap cars it seems. Ford could make a mustang that was the complete opposite of what a mustang is, turns 1 g around the skidpad, does a 10 sec 1/4 and people on here would still hate it and find fault.

Excellent post. It totally says what I've been saying in that the gt500 powerplant is amazing and its jus in a heavy car. If it was in an aluminum framed sports car that only weighed 3k pounds the times would be very similar. Then when you wanna go faster more power is a 50 dollar pulley away.

Did they make the pulley swap easy??

I read something about the GT500 having something on it to make the pulley swap very difficult. No idea how valid that is though.

They made it a pain in the ass this time around. On previous blown fords the pulleys are easy to change out. This time they are a bitch to remove and after you get to a certain diameter you have to buy a different blower snout. The diameter of the snout was purposely big so that the pulleys wont clear it. Ford hates paying for warranty claims and I guess they figured 500 horses is enough for most people. But with that aftermarket snout you can run whatever pulleys you want. Evolution performance ran 9's with the stock blower. Now Kenne Bell jus came out with a blower that Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords jus made 793 rhwp with.
