The polish itself removes the original black paint.

The rubbing compound is the Mothers. That is the only thing I used on this project.

and mine was maguiars. all it takes is strong fingers, will power, and elbow grease...and some time! i'd recommend if you have a fuel line disconect tool, use it and do his off the car, god that would make this so much easier! it was a bit tedious doing this standing up for a while..would have much preferred taking it all the way off and sitting down. also, when i did it, it wasn't all the way on, the only thing connected was the fuel line itself, not bolts, no clips, no injectors plugged in. that way you can move it around at least a little

3 brackets on each side that come with it. they attach to the coil pack bracket and each cover has 1/4 turn screws in them that lock them down.

Thats what I was going to suggest, if you don't remove it completely from the car, at least pull out the 4 bolts holding it to the intake and pop it out the injectors and swing it out towards the driver side. Trying to polish it while its sitting on top of the intake would be next to impossible or not really worth it at the least.

Looks good Matt. I noticed you had the same problem as I did. The 4 bolt down areas wouldn't polish up well for me either. I guess it doesn't matter, they won't show anyways though.
