yeah i'd keep the 400 and keep the engine bay looking stock but bore and stroke it to a 434...............GORILLA BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only problem with the 400 is that it is more prone to overheating than any of the heyday blocks, get some better cooling for it and your straight. High 500's to the wheel out of a 434.........plus it stays true to the ponch.

I still would go with the 400 no question's asked.

i think you are talking about a chevy 400 with heating problems. and changing the crank on a 400 to a 455 crank will net 462 cubes.

yes you are right it (tranny) won't bolt up but you can use an aftermarket adapter. and the pontiac is realy not a small block or a big block

    Sadly now demodded :(

Go with the 400, or at least hang on to it. 79 was the last year for a Pontiac 400.

i only voted on the 350 cause you want a power CRUISER right? and not a street fighter, plus the 350 will get slightly better mileage, and with a good set of aluminum heads, mild cam, good tune, it will run good

But the "shaker" hood scoop won't sit properly nor will the hood seal to it if you use a chevy engine.
