yeah, my buddy had one and I was really impressed. I've ridden a 06 R6 and a 06 600RR and I just really don't like them, the honda was like sitting on a plank of wood and both bikes were just above and BEYOND my skill to the point of stupid. It will be a LONG time before I can push the SV but it is easy and comfy, the naked bike has the ergo's I like. I am a squid but I know 2 things
A: Wear full gear no matter what
B: Its better to ride a slow bike fast then a fast bike slow lol

Heh, I've left the site for a while for the bike boards, but I'll stop in every now and then.
'95 zx-6r, 2005 zx-10r, and rode a bunch of my friends bikes. 5 years, spending more or less time on the tracks when I got the cash.

98-ls1, so just an all around performance bike that's not all too uncomfortable to ride? You've got a bunch of options. There's the honda VFR. Comfortable and well engineered, with good power and comfortable rider positioning. If you want torque, look into the V-twins. SVs and TLRs. Pretty much nobody is going to let you test ride a new bike, but sit down on them and you can at least feel out how you like the rider positioning and layout of controls. But know that there are some things different when you take them out for a ride. I thought I liked the CBRs, but I hated that mass centralization thing Honda was doing to them. The bike felt good when just sitting on it. They tried to make a sharper turning machine by concentrating the bikes mass and weight pretty much dead center in the bike, but it just made it feel like it was floaty and disconnected from the road during hard turns.

If you really want a purer sportbike, an f4i or a zx-6e is good. The 6e is actually based off the older 6r. It has a softer positioning than the new ones, is still very fast, and will get you sport-tourer insurance rates. One of the best deals out there.

Look into the VFR800 for sure, I think it matches up almost perfectly with what you're looking for. It's very well engineered and mechanical problems are almost unheard of. Their owners rave about them. It's somewhere between a sportbike and a sport tourer. A comfortable ride like a sport-tourer, middle-hi power bike that goes long distances and is pretty easy to ride as sportbikes go, but will still let you drag knee like a sportbike as your skills improve. A unique bike that not everyone has, like a gsx-r. A V-4, linked braking, and vtec so the ricer boys will like you haha . I think it looks good, should look good with your f-bod too.

WOW another noob starting off on a SS bike
    CRAZY
Learn how to ride on something less powerful/expensive, man. Riding is all about curves not straight roads.
I started on a 03 SV650 - guaranteed not to bore you after 1 season and still pretty noob friendly
Here's a pic of it leaving to the new owner which will use it as a track bike
