coolant probably 7K ago (after my radiator replaced)
Rear end 5K (and additive to quitedown the whine)
air filters good
front end no (but rotated 6K regularly AND correctly)
brakes/fluid nope
TB nope
tranny fluid nope
spark plugs ill change at 90K
i keep and ear/eye out for problems
and on a full mile of gravel road everyday...im fighting a losing battle with keeping the engine bay clean
during summer i clean her exterior once or twice a week...engine bay id spray it once a month
interior sometimes twice a week if necessary
thursday shes getting a full Diagnostics so well see how good ive been doing for the 10K ive owned her
for a 17y/o i believe i take care of my car pretty damn well..

Clicking clanging? As in valves? Get that Lucas crap out of there. Absolutely terrible oil. Look at the VOA's of the crap. Should be illegal to sell crap like that. Pure marketing.
I digress.
Go get yourself some cheap conventional Mobil Clean 5000 and 1 quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. Change the oil and filter with 1 quart of MMO repolacing one quart of motor oil. Run it 1000 miles.
Let me know......

Sarge I like guys like him above. I get to make a profit from "fixing" their ignorance. It also helps employ people like us that enjoy working on these things and gives them a reason to make a living.
Now to answer your question. Hell yeah, Preventative Maintenance goes a long long way. I hate shopping for a used car some times. I always think "just how F'd up have the previous owners taken care of this vehicle?

Black- 1999 Camaro Z28
When I bought my Z28 the lady never changed the tranny fluid. Turns out it was low too. After that the rear went, never had fluid changed. Lord knows the last time it had an oil change. But it is in better hands now.

Eveverything gets changed regularly and documented. The engine bay of my cars are cleaner than most brand new ones that have been off of the lot 6 months. Often times I feel bad that one of mine is dirty (to me) and people comment on how clean it is.
What's your opinion on changing trans fluid on a newly purchased high mileage car? I have heard not to that it can cause more problems than it can prevent.

Flush it. Just dropping the pan and changing 40-50% of ithe fluid has caused problems

Yeah they are...I bought one for cheap from a guy going broke....
Most dealerships/shops have them.
Hook up the lines to the trannie cooler up by the radiator and start your car up and watch the old fluid be pumped out and new fluid going in....total fluid change including the converter. Cheap and quick.
