Bugs don't freak me out like that. I mean, the really creepy 'huge' ones do. You know, the ones in flight coming at ya, or the ones that have a gazillion legs that creep up on you out of nowhere
But, so far... I've yet to tangle with a bug that I couldn't take
Well... except for that big black bee that bit me in the face in High School. I had to go to the ER. So, he won that battle
But, I can see the beauty in some of these bugs. Like the dragon flies that we get here. Bright orange and red. I have one that follows me around when I am outside. Gets really close to me too. I move around, he follows me. I stop, he stops. We go around and water my plants together most days. I think it's cool. He's my gardening buddy
And, I've had one every year for the last 6 years or so. The one I have this year is smaller and a bit more red then the one I had last year and previous years. If I didn't know better, I'd say that the last one I had was the same one each spring for at least two seasons.
But, the one I have now, he's definitely a new guy
But, follows me around just the same as the others did.
I like them

More like this guy. Although, I never really saw it land. It was flying the whole time. But, looked like this...

A metallic green fig beetle (Cotinus texana), so named because it is often found feeding on fig fruits during the warm summer months in southern California. It is also fond of other ripe, juicy fruits, such as peaches and plums. These attractive beetles spend their juvenile larval stage in the ground, often beneath manure piles, compost and haystacks.

My guy is a Dragonfly. They hang out by my pool. No fish in there

They eat mosquitoes, and other small insects like flies, bees, ants, and butterflies. They can and will eat tadpoles and small fish though when hanging around lakes and streams.

The one I have this year is far more red than orange. I'll try to get a picture for you when he visits with me this week
