My only point is that I find it funny that the stang guys think it's a victory to beat a 12 year old car. I think it's also awesome that GM built a car 12 years ago that's still running with cars coming out today. Name another car maker that can make that claim? Not a lot out there. I'm not talking specialty cars....I'm talking showroom floor base model cars.

^you mean foxbodys beating ls1s? Otherwise thats not the same thing. However if thats what your saying im still confused. Stock for stock a fox body against a ls1 is just a waste of gas.

And you're the one sitting up there saying "Not trying to start an argument......Please don't get defensive over something so small and stupid", look at you?
All I stated was how much the 99-01 Cobra costed compared to the SS of it's time. You seem to be the only one in this thread to have an issue with that?

Actually I do. How many of those foxbody's are stock that people are talking about beating? I would never brag about beating a stock fox body. Hell, I don't brag about beating anyone really. I did race a fox body several years ago here in town. Good close race and the only ground I gained on him was when he would shift until we got up to 3rd gear then I started pulling him. He had a nice lumpy cam and was running skinnies. Nice looking/running car. My mods at the time......stall convertor and headers.

The new 5.0 is better than the LS1 in almost every way. Not trying to start a flame war so mods do not hold me responsible if others start turning up the heat.
The fact of the matter is that the new stang is faster, more powerfull, and better refined than the LS1. Other than a nasty motor and sleek looks, I dont really see anything that a WS6/SS has over the 5.0? The t-tops leak, the rear end can be blown apart with STOCK power, headlights dont come up sometimes (TA models), window motors going out. Now as far as engine goes, the LS1 engine can see anywhere from a good 40-50 HP increase with full bolt ons and a tune. I dont even think there are many parts out for the 5.0 yet so I cant say anything."Life is to short to drive a slow car"

It should be,considering the Ls1 hasn't been in a production car since 2004.
This whole thread is a joke. "Don't race a stock Ls1 against a 5.0",or WTF ever the title is. How many Ls1's are stock anymore? I'd say few and far between. To all these 5.0 leghumpers on this GM site...when your new 5.0 can run with the current production stock Ls3,Ls7,or the almighty Ls9,maybe one of us old Ls1 owners will give a shit.

Your so right. Compare a $30,000 naturally aspirated car to that of one with a superchraged 6.2L with a $100,000 price tag. Thats definitely a good comparison...
I dont think there is another car out there today that cost 30k, makes 400+hp all motor, and is under 5.0L. THATS the whole point of my arguement. We can sit here and talk about how great and superior the new GM cars are over the stang or we can actually talk about cars in the same price range.

Just threw the Ls9 in there for shits and grins...Nobody seems to consider that when comparing a 03/04 cobra to Ls1 f-body,what was the excuse back then...oh the ford has less ci's so it needs a s/c to level the playing field.
I could really care less what ford has,if I wanted to know I'd be on a Mustang site. Congrats to ford though it only took them a little over a decade to build a N/A car/engine that will run with a LsX.Last edited by importhater81; 07-13-2010 at 06:26 PM.

) Should be, thats a big "SHOULD" be 11's all day, I'm no pro of a driver but been driving stick since I was 9 years old on my Dad's lap out in the boonies.

I think the same thing too. Some look okay but the side view of them is horrible and the fishlike features are still present.
