Lets not forget when they stopped making F-Bodies how many people buying new had no choice but to buy a Mustang, unless they had 60k for a Vett. Ford had the entire "affordable" muscle car market
for 12 yrs. That has alot to do with thier success.
Just another reason I fucking hate GM.
I dunnno. I'd gladly have taken an 05 GTO over the Mustang GT if I were in the market then.

As I said a page or two ago, looks like some good things for the GT. I'll be watching at the track to see what they'll do.

A good thing for the rest of the car world that it appears to be near it's limit without spending mega bucks. How much can longtubes, cai, and a tune really help... Unless ou wanted to spend mega bucks on cams or lowering the compression+forced induction

The rods are not forged like you think. Do a little research on PM rods.

I didn't read the articles... It uses pushrods? I thought the Ford mod motors did away with those?

The crankshaft is made of forged steel and is fully counter-weighted to aid smoothness. The connecting rods are forged powdered metal and the pistons are hyper-eutectic (translation: they contain a higher concentration of silicon, which helps reduce thermal expansion). As a result, the tolerances between the piston and bore can be tighter and allow for better sealing

On current stangs yes but their tunes go from 87-91 whereas this will be a 91from the jump no doubt. I'm sure it'll pick up some from a tune but nothing like the current models do I'd bet. Given the headers, high compression etc it'll handle its own stock for stock but I'm still betting without adding boost it it going to be pretty limiting without spending major bucks and boost to mod.

Fuck throwing boost at it. It sounds like it is going to more of a N2O motor.

and of course you have to look at the fact that you are coming from 300hp to maybe 335-350 on the old 4.6 while you are starting at 412hp with this engine .. Tune will always help because stock it is set for everyday Joe to drive it not someone who really wants all it potential..

They havent done this since the mid 60s.... and even then it was just because it wasnt regulated as tightly. Not really fords fault they were using a different dyno than gm.
