Stock- 2002 Camaro
"Not surprisingly, the V8-equipped Camaro SS delivers better numbers across the board. Chevy's Camaro SS outfitted with the 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph according to Oppenheiser. Strangely enough, Oppenheiser also claims that the automatic-equipped SS Camaro, which is rated at 400 hp, runs from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds. "We optimized the shift points," he said."
something still seems wrong to me here. so ya they have more power but the times dont show it. so something is lacking. I would take a stock 4th gen over a stock 5th any day of the week.

I think by this point everyone knows the new camaro weigh 3800lbs. But still it has 422hp and can stil ltrap 110-111mph as its already been done. Most full bolt on ls1 cars run 110-111mph trap speeds. So i think it would still be a good race with advantage to the bolt on ls1 car. If the ls1 car has drag radials and gears its over.

Eh,,,all the new camaro needs is a little more power. How long do you think that's going to last??
I don't think it'll be long before the new camaro's running around are going to be tinkered with and trapping 115 or better with just bolt on's. Wait till someone just sticks a camshaft in one.
I'm sure the one I ran was still stock, but I think the longer they are around,,,just like everything else,,,you will start seeing some pretty quick ones. In which case they will be a handfull for even a head/cam full tilt 4th gen.
There are already several challengers around that are modded, that aren't even a year old yet
As far as all these 4th gens,,,there are probably only a handfull left on the planet that haven't had a wrench turned on em'
Stock usually only lasts until after that temp tag is gone.

Ya Texas Speed already has a section for the 2010 Camaro. I still think that there are those people out there who will hold off modding so as not to void the Manfac warr. But you are right, just like with the "new" Z06 with three months there were already a few running around with blowers.
i guess i just expected more for a 400+HP car. I'm not saying they should have made the car super light, but atleast the same weight as the 4th gens

That's funny Texas Speed already has a section for them
Ya it won't be long. Some headers and exhaust,,,camshaft and a good tune and these things will be flying.
At that point I think people will rethink the "heavy weight means slow concept"

There are already modded 2010 SSs. The bolt ons are already out for the camaro and the ls3 has been out for a couple years so cams are already out for it.
Just go to google and put in cammed 2010 camaro, you wil lsee videos of new camaros already cammed.
For the record heavy is a disadvantage in almost every performance aspect.Last edited by Zinergy; 07-10-2009 at 07:54 AM.

Last week I raced a 2010 Camaro and had no problem pulling on him. by the time I hit 100 he was close to 3 cars back. I have a 99 Z28 with 100+K miles and was running 93 octane. I only have headers, high flow cats, true dual exhaust, cold air intake, MAF, aluminum fly, MSD wires, NGK plugs, wheel and a Predator tune! I was disappointed in the new 2010...

I saw a bone stock make 2 dyno pulls. 320 hp and 322. 6 spd cars, I put my money on the bolt on 02.

well like I said, bone stock no tune , no nothing. Like it came from the dealer. I agree, I don't think people expected that.
