A lid is very cost effective.

As far as a tune, cars that use a MAF are self tuning to an extent.
Never said it didn't my responses in this thread I have been making my statements based on the fact that there is a better way to spend $500-1200 than a exhaust system. I'm sorry if I wasn't making myself clear. Plus, it only a waste of money if the value isn't there for YOU. ;-)

Hey Mecinoid, I apologize, it was Waldo who said the stock exhaust is good to 500 HP. Sorry!

No worries. I try not to take these car forums too seriously anymore. It's supposed to be fun right?

Yup! The only thing I try to take seriously is the missinformation that gets spread. Enough people start to repeat it, then they all think it is true.

    Dude your ignorance is funny

There are alot of threads and charts on google, from many sources saying the same thing. People pick up power from exhaust compnents maybe not huge gains but still a gains and noticable ones, whether you want to believe it or not. I dont care what you do for a living, i dont care where you live. Your are a sorry excuse for a Wisconsinite. You are the reason people think WI is full of redneck ignorant morons.

My friends have used this iphone program and the times it shows are very very close to what they run in the 1/4 mile.

I conducted a scientific study to evaluate the I-Phones 0-60 and quarter mile calculator. I found that the I-Phone program was consistently within .2 of a second of my actual track time’s bluh, bluh, bluh…………..

To all you Wisconsin people out there, please accept my sincere apology for defacing the people of this fine state!

    Truly Sorry,

    Waldo

P.S. I strongly recommend an upgrade to the exhaust on a WS6. Not only will you gain considerable HP but you will love the new sound! Also, I highly recommend purchasing the track time calculator from I-Phone to test the performance gains your new system will deliver to you! It’s an incredible tool with an accuracy of .0001 of a second!

I dont think anyone here argued that the i-phone app was nothing more than a fun little tool that can be in the range of what your car runs. Like i said with my legacy it was within .2. Thats pretty good for a free app if you look hard enough. Its better than the people who just say my car should run this or that with no data whatsoever to back them up. Like v-tec guys who tell me there bolt on prelude would go mid 13s.

I never said that exhaust is the most cost effective mod, but you made it sound like you gain no hp and therefore no performance without a tune when that just isnt true. 3-4mph in a roll race can look like 5 cars if not more BTW.

Im not sure why you think WS6 exhaust is better, people have with base T/As and z28s have made as much power as the ram air cars. The ws6 exhaust is still restrictive.

P.S. alot of people give Wisconsin no respect.

sorry i didn't provide a hypothesis for you. I'm not gonna bother to provide scanned ET slips and photo snap shots of the iphone times and video evidence of the vehicle doing it...somehow that probably wouldn't be good enough for you either anyways. I won't bother explaining anything to you anymore. This is where I usually give up on people from Wisconsin, and yes, i know several people from Wisconsin. You are a bit smater than them. I'll give you that. I can read your sentences.

you can't go to the track with a cut-out and consider that stock exhaust...make a run with the cut-out open and then closed and see if there's a difference.
