Hey "Lethal z", research the function of a cowl hood. Uses the negative preasure created at the "cowl" area at the base of the windshield, to drive air into the engine compartment. Yes, not functional as "ram air" on late model f-bodys with lid down front, but would direct cooler air into engine bay. The 6 inch cowl hood with sealed carb pan on our 1968 Camaro creates more air flow to the engine the faster it goes. Enough pressure to give us the effect of 2 lbs of boost at 150 mph. 8.74 et @162mph, N/A.

Ok, well under that senario with the carb, that does make sense. Good lookin car by the way.

Exactly, with a carb setup there is truth to the theory. As for a cowl hood with the LS1 setup it will only decrease underhood temps.

Either way, they both look nice and both have a function. I would say go with the hood with the best performance for your car. Remember, "If you ain't first...your last" Ricky Bobby.

Or when it comes to hoods, maybe the best LOOK for your car makes more sense!

I don't rely on my "hood" giving me the advantage in a race you know.

I've got enough power under it to make up for that!

Maybe you would if you had a performance hood. If you dont think your hood makes a difference in a race, you have no clue what you are talking about! By the way, thats one badass engine!

It may help extract some of the under hood temp but thats about it, either way it has no effect on performance where as the Ultra Z provides a performance gain.
this is not true, cowl induction is method of air induction just like ram air thats just my 2 cents

Dude, read the whole post. This got covered already. But since you chimmed in, please tell me how cowl induction is the same as ram air on a fuel injected LS1 engine. Explain how the cowl and the ram air work in the same way.
