Please excuse my ignorance as I am trying to learn as much as I can in laymans terms so I can understand all of this.
    Why is a 110 unreliable?

Not really unreliable...just more trouble. More risk....requires more tuning, lower mileage, less driveability, etc...

110-111 LSA's are reserved for race cars in my opinion. Not street cars.

A 237/242 112 lsa is about as big as I would go for DD'ing it. A good big-ish cam without being extreme. A good tune can keep it driveable

I still remember the first time I pulled up next to a new '67 Z28. No stripes and just a 302 badge on the side but the rattle and lope of that solid lifter said it was one bad ass car.

I was reading the rest of the thread for this!

I understand sound is cool. Really cool actually. But Ill reserve youtube for that "sound".

On the street, the dude in tha lane next to you with the same goodies but a more street-able cam is probably gonna win. My two twelfth of a shilling. (.02)

Because too many people cite examples of someone going with a 240* duration cam in an otherwise stock 10.1:1 compression LS1 with a stock intake, poor flowing exhaust, a manual trans and stock gearing, with a mail order tune.

Bump up the compression and match the manifolds to the powerband, then gear it accordingly. You'd be surprised how well that works

Duration is generally related to static compression, too much duration combined with too low static compression equals low cylinder pressures which equals poor performance....
too little duration combined with too high static compression equals high cylinder pressures which equals a tendency to detonate....
Camshaft duration can also be increased with no noticeable loss in driveability if the displacewment is increased....
a big cam in a large displacement engine will act mild compared to the same cam in a small displacement engine where it would act wild...
