Yay !!!!!
You guys crack me up... You always have.. Let see if we can start a fire and bring in some new life to the party. These cars rock and we aren't as old as the Vette guys yet. However, some of us are getting there.

Joined in 1999, hundreds of posts, lost a lot during the great site computer crash purge. This was really a jumping place, I akin it to almost like a rock band, as b.t.o once sang "I know that someday we'll be gone. Was a great time. I have not dropped in here for at least a year or so. Back then, the roads were flooded with WS6 firebirds, most of course were trans-ams. Bought my 2000 WS6 FORMULA in 1999, first and last new car I have ever had. Why the WS6? Because, at the time, it gave the most bang for the buck... for $30,000, you could get a 320 h.p. modern-day musclecar. I was kinda distressed I think in the next year I think it was the Bonneville or some other family Pontiac car that offered 350 (or was it 400)? h.p. Getting passed by a 4-door family sedan with a baby seat in it was no fun.
Man, there was Trans-Ams all over the place back then. I used to make fun of their drivers, in a good sense of humour of course, that their swinging drivers would exit their cars wearing gold chains, snapping their fingers as Sammy belted out "MY TRANS-AM"! from their stereos.
All good things come to an end most of the time. I am glad to see LS.1 is still here. You newer members never got to see how crazy it was in here, but you might imagine as the old-timers tell ya the stories.
Still got the Formula! I will die in that car. Friends that are dead now used to ride with me. I remember them all, and I remember the "great ones" who frequently were on this site.
My Formula can still kick butt, did 140 mph a short time ago (safe wide flat deserted road), still had more...
I decry the auto makers bringing back the old classic supercar names of the late 60's/early 70's BUT SOME OF THEM HAVE 4 DOORS! DISGUSTING! But what is really crazy is that most of these cars easily whomp me.
I can only guess that a LOT of the Firebirds got wrecked, sold or whatever. Some of their new owners could not care less. That is why you do not see them here I would imagine. I cannot even tell you when the last time I saw an LS1 firebird on the road, wait, yes I did, it was about 2 years ago but was a 6 cylinder firebird. Still it was good to see it.
One thing that still pisses me off to this day, I still got the factory firebird propaganda of the day which claimed (and on the cars) that the engine was "force-fed air". HAH! Yah, sure, after it goes thru 2 hood rain baffles AND AN AIR CLEANER! We should have all banded together back then and forced a class action lawsuit for false advertising. It is a fresh air intake only of course.
To all members, the old and the new... I salute you.
mike
p.s. to anyone who has a 2002 WS6, I have a spare factory propaganda booklet for that year, if you have a 2002 WS6, let me know, I will send it to you. I just snagged it way back then, but since mine is a 2000, it does not really apply. I only have to find where I put it!

A few more years, and I am still here. Once in a while anyway. Still have the WS6 woot. Looking at headlight upgrades currently. Love the HIDs on my 2008 STS. Damn eyes of mine aren't 40 years old anymore. Or 50. Or...wait, not there yet!
