when i bought my car the guy that had it had it in the garage for like everything he said it never saw snow or rain. He was the only owner. So i kept it that way when i bought it except the rain. i could tell he never drove it in the rain or snow because the tires that where on it sucked in the rain. I have a jeep for the snow and it is way more fun in the snow then the car would be.

I am SERIOUSLY JEALOUS!!!! It's still going strong here in Ontario, Canada. I might get a chance to get my car out this weekend though if the forecast is remotely close to correct.

I run blizzak revo's on all four corners. Im an a4 with 2.73's. I go through snow pretty good with out hardly any probs. After I added LCA's, that really made a difference for traction.

I switched to front wheel drive and tires with a good rating on ice in the front. I just finished three winters in a '90 Camaro RS M5 with a standard (not a posi) rearend. We had "good" winters for the first two. But there were still ice some days when you pushed in the clutch, hit the brake, and prayed. The one hill a travelled on twice a day got icy and had a sweeping 180 at the bottom. I would gear down at the top and use engine braking to go down. Even then there was times it would start breaking loose. Going up was worse it sometimes break loose in the middle of the hill. I would pray traffic didn't stop on the hill or there would be no starting from a stop (I once watched a semi sliding down a hill backwards with the wheels turning frontwards, when he hit the brakes the trailer went into the ditch and took the tractor with it). The third winter was a "regular" one. I swore if I lived through it in the Camaro I would never do it again. Two things happened second gear/ reverse was bad when we bought the car, needless to say it got worse, rocking a car stuck in the snow is hard on a good trany, murder on a bad. Second once I made it to spring, the plastic rad tank cracked. That was it. I sold the Camaro "as is", drove the '87 GTA for the summer, and bought a Sunfire in fall.

we get quite a bit of snow where i live here in washington so im parking my bird this coming winter in our garage and pulling out my toyota pickup! even if you try driving as safe as possible, there is always some nut case out there that thinks they can drive as fast as they want with no problems. after they have either rolled their called or put it into the ditch, they realized they couldnt do that. we have a lot of people coming over from seattle to go skiing that do that. they're idiots

I live in wisconsin so lots of snow i almost never drive it in the snow but my winter car was broken for a week. So i took it out for 4 days i ran into a hill in waukesha they dont use salt there, just sand on a ice covered hill i was sideways the whole way up doin about 7mph almost took out a small gaggle of children waiting for a school bus, there parents watching from the drive ways and freaking out good times. My friend was right behind me in his 91 Iroc-z so they almost got hit twice.

Cool tip for torsen diff. owners

I just read this on how stuff works and they actually got it from a Hummer manual. We all know that in low traction situations like ice or snow the torsen acts as an open differential. If you use the parking brake to increase the resistance of the wheel that is on ice, the differential will start to react and produce torque on the opposite wheel! I wouldn't recomend doing this for more then a few seconds to avoid damage to the parking brake, but it could really help someone out of a slick spot.

p.s. I wouldn't recomend using the regular brake because the front wheels would hold you in place even if both wheels did start to spin. We're not trying to do burnouts here!

I'll try that out Wednesday morning. We're supposed to get a couple of inches! I'm starting to get really sick of road salt!!!!
