scientists claim to much IMO

I see your point, but thats what scientists do as when your researching shit of this kind of magnitude you can really only claim? If scientists had to physically prove everything they research and work on nothing would get done. You can prove things on a much smaller scale scientifically.

yea tell that to the people from the stone age. it all has to do with humans wanting to push forward. Just think if we didnt do things like that we would all be in europe thinking the world is flat. So i take it that the expoditions to north america were a waste of money/time

^^^The man has a point
I think it's awesome that we finally found a planet that can sustain life and might actually have life on it. Yea what we're seeing is from 20 years ago but odds are the planet is still there.

I thought this was a pretty interesting read but then I read this,
"This is a marvelous discovery ... the best case for a habitable planet" so far, said astronomer Geoff Marcy, a University of California, Berkeley, astronomer who has discovered most of the 227 so-called exoplanets orbiting other stars. Marcy's group had been racing the Europeans to find the first potentially Earth-like planet.
But Marcy and other scientists cautioned against reading too much into the discovery.
Eugene Chiang, a planetary specialist at UC Berkeley, said the Europeans have no proof that the planet has a solid surface, or that their estimates of the surface temperature are accurate.
"This is a step beyond what's been done," he said of the discovery. "But to say this planet is habitable is a real stretch."
If alien astronomers saw Venus from afar, for instance, they would not be able to tell that a runaway greenhouse effect has created an unlivable world, with temperatures of 750 degrees Fahrenheit.
"The surface temperature depends on the atmosphere, and they don't know what the atmosphere is made of," Chiang said of the new planet.
Then I remembered that something like this is such a long shot. I stuck with that.Last edited by Hi-Po; 04-25-2007 at 06:52 PM.

your attacks on the christian god or god on any level for the matter tells me that you your self are a beliver, since god is usually on of the first things on your mind...so tell me since you're so mad at "god" what is it that you think he owes you? or maybe you think he took something from you... or maybe you are mad because you simply exist and want slumber again but are to afraid to do it your self...
but tell me either way... why the despise? why when you can not stop thinking of "god" every day of your life? any dumb fuck who knows any thing of basic phsycology can see this and any one with an IQ over 120 as well... it's blatantly obvious... and i'm not trying to start a war.... it's mere curiousity... so much contradiction...

lets hurry up and use all its natural resources before some other life form gets to it first. lets just face it were are doomed for an ill faded death on this planet. one thing to think about, if you took all your oil out of your LS1 how long do you think it would last. think about that; just for a minute. where does that leave us? we would just fock this planet up to.

a lot of money goes in to research yes...but let's think about it. if it wasn't for research being done at NASA in the early 60's where they saw a problem of an easy to use device to hold things in place in zero gravity...we would not have velcro.
besides cases like that. what would happen if some of these things happened but nobody was taking a look at the evidence and drawing some type of a conclusion. as soon as the event occurred the blame would start getting passed around, fingers would start getting pointed, and everybody would be dead making it a moot point anyway.
the research that is done on far away planets can tell us how our planet was eons ago and that can be important for what the future of our planet may be.
the research is valuable whether it's easy to see or not. if it wasn't the government wouldn't fund it. and if it's not worth the governments time, most of the time private investors will pony up the cash anyway.

Its simple really. I believe in a creator or creators and I hate it or them. Whatever is up there that built all of this is fucked in the head. I hear people praising god that the F5 didn't kill them as it demolished their town and belongings when they should be condemning him or it or whatever for creating the tornado in the fuckin' first place. I think about god all the time because I hear about it all the time. This country was founded on christian principles for crying out loud. I know that humanity brings a lot of the BS in this world on itself but we didn't ask for sickness and natural disasters. I'm sure the people in SE Asia simply loved it when that tsunami killed like 500,000 of them. And all because Eve decided to eat a piece of fruit. Sounds like a loving creator to me.
Let me put it this way. If you ate my candy bar and I retaliated by wrecking your life along with anyone that will ever be a descendant of yours, would you consider me to be loving and just?Last edited by FuxOnTheFirstDate; 04-26-2007 at 06:49 AM.

Who wants to see my long renditions on the creation of the universe, the possibility of life existing on other planets, mathematical & physics (quantum) concepts of celestial bodies and other star formations including the possibility of a supreme being that may be responsible for all that is, was and will always be .....
.... and the frightening spectre that extraterrestial life may be the same as our own human species ?
