Hey jknelms, how's Paris? I'm going down to the Plano area in 2010 to check out some condo's. I like more of a country setting than city. What's that town like?

well, Plano is pretty close to the city life. Paris has about 26,000 ppl. it's the county seat of Lamar county. mostly this town is conservative. it's a dry county. this town basically lives of social security and retirement checks. the housing market here is a whole lot cheaper than the DFW area, but property taxes are still pretty high. Problem with Paris is....it's racially divided.

i'm all for a dry county. someone is out petitioning to have the city vote on it to make it wet. i hope it doesn't pass. the city already has a bad wrap for drunk driving. alcohol really doesn't need to be any more accessable in this town. that and two stores who can legally sell alcohol in this county...both look like trash. i'd hate to see "Beer - Wine - Liquor" at every stop. like i said, it's a conservative town.

alcohol is a few miles to the west and a few miles to the east. like 4 miles or so. both stores have towns named after them. Toco and Sun Valley, two of the smallest towns in Texas. Toco has like 70 ppl living in it, Sun Valley has like 40 ppl living in it.
Paris is so not driving distance to the ocean though. we're like 400-500 miles from Port Arthur. Paris is like 20 miles from Oklahoma. snows about one day a year here...last about 3 days over all. rarely does texas get an Ice storm, but when it comes...We're never prepared for it...so don't drive....someone will hit you because they forgot how to drive.
