Thread: Best looking Mustang 1964-2015?

I had an 88 Iroc with the L98 350 tpi for a few years. I actually enjoyed that car more than any 4th gen we've had. It was more comfortable, felt more nimble and had a much cleaner look to it, inside and out. Ran good, with exhaust (removed cat) adj fuel pressure and shorty headers it went 13.89 @ 100mph with 2.77 rear gears, lol.
My first 4th gen, a 97 Z28 6 speed could only muster 14.20's at 98-99 mph, But it was bone stock. Wasn't till we jumped into the LS1 4th gens when things got a little better in the 1/4 mile department.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 04-07-2015 at 05:46 AM.

Lots of stupid people out there. Hence mustang sales.
I used to get all kinds of compliments driving a black/gray 1992 cavalier z24. People like to compliment clean cars. Looks are all personal opinion so I'm not trying to change yours and some foxbody cars look alright. But to compare them with the 60s fastbacks, or special option cars etc is just silly in my opinion. The foxbody was never a thing of beauty but the 80s wasn't really the decade of good looking cars IMO.Last edited by Zinergy; 04-07-2015 at 06:04 AM.

I tend to think you're in a minority Next to classic 60's mustangs these fox bodies have the next strongest following. Prices are reflecting that. I find it funny that (around here anyway) a clean foxbody is bringing more money than a clean 4th gen right now.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm a GM guy as much as the next and have several of those as well, but it takes someone like myself with an open mind and a desire to own various types of cars to understand. I see the good (and the bad) with all makes and models.
I'd be the first to tell you I think the only good looking 4th gens out there are the formula's. Yet I currently own a 2000 SS camaro, and we've all heard the fish mouth comments. In comparison, the little fox bodies are much better looking than that. However there are certainly better looking cars than a foxbody too. Frankly I don't think mustangs got any better after 1969 in the looks department.
I agree though, it's hard to compare cars from different decades. In the 80's the foxbody, the 3rd gen camaros and birds were about as good as it got as far as looks (I think)
You can look at the pic of my 69 above, and my 89 just below, as far as looks you are right, there is no comparison at all. Ford got it right on the money in 69. I like the foxbody not so much for it's looks, but for it's performance potential, it's durability, and it's lightweight nimble package.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 04-07-2015 at 06:14 AM.

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A, 00 FBVert, 78T/A
Only 'stangs I like are the 1st & 2nd Gens, hate 3rd gens, loath the 4th, 5th = meh, better than 3rd & 4th, 6th - starting to grow on me.
I've seen some sinister looking late 5th & 6th gens.
Of all the retro designs I still think the Challenger is still the best looking one, followed by the Mustang, and lastly the Camaro.

Black / White- '00 T/A M6/'19 Hemi Truck
an older clean car is still cool to see imo. Even if its something that isnt as sexy as some of the other stuff. I saw a 1970 Honda Civic about 4 or 5 months ago that looked like it was in controlled storage all of its life and I talked to the owner about it. It was literally flawless and he drives it probably 2-3 times a week.

I like to think I have an open mind. I have owned cars from dodge, gm and ford as well as imports. This has nothing to do with me being a GM guy who hates fords. This has everything to do with us discussing best looking mustang and the foxbody has no place in that conversation if you ask me.
You hit the nail on the head in hte bolded section. The reason there is such a big following in my opinion isn't because of looks. Which is what this thread is about mind you. It is because they are cheap and cheap to mod. Foxbodys are the DSMs of the domestic racing scene. Around here you can buy a 9-10 second foxbody for 8 grand. Or buy a clean rolling chassis for 1500 bucks, stick a few grand into the drivetrain and have something decently quick.
And yes a 98-02 Camaro SS looks better than a foxbody. Lol like I said looks are all personal opinion.Last edited by Zinergy; 04-07-2015 at 06:43 AM.

I agree, and Zinergy hit on this as well. I like seeing clean older cars. My problem is that at my age I don't see the foxbodies as old Even though technically by age they are considered classics now.
You want to talk old cars you have to at least get into the early 70's with me and then go back from there.
I do enjoy seeing the old early 70's honda civic 600's. Occasionally I'll see one running around. Damn those things are smaller than I remember,

In all honesty I was probably the best looking thing to come out of the 80s.

Has anyone in here drove or rode in a 2015 GT? I got to drive one a few weeks ago, the thing reminded me of a Foxbody, only more refined and newer. Feels much less big and bulky compared to the 10-14 Mustangs.

Did you like it or anything about it at all? If I were on the market for a new car, I'd most likely go for a new GT mustang given the other choices we have. The new appearance is a nice improvement over the previous model.
Funny you mentioned they feel less big and bulky than previous model, yet the new appearance makes it at least look like it's bigger and bulky than the previous model (to me anyway) but I still like it.

Not sure, I'd have to see them side by side, but when I was at BJ this year and they had several on display making their debut the first thing I thought was, "damn that look big compared to last years model" The sleeker lines make it appear lower, longer, and wider.
But I like what they've done with it, the front end looks more aggressive, and I do like the fact the car has more curves.
