Well those are great and all..but he said remove them..assuming the op is going to drag...
the t tops must be on. Same for hpde events. I don't know why they have a targa top for the f body..it isn't a targa..and if someone cuts the I bar..they greatly weaken the ridgity of the frame which is pointless for ax or hpde

Technicaly you are removing the heavy tops. They dont cut the Tbar. All you have to do is swap the hardware from your t tops to the targa and remove the bolted on center bar that keeps the t tops in place. No cutting. its on 6lE right now. check it out. im considering it in carbon fiber for racing days, same with some kind of carbon fiber hood. VIS makes some pretty good looking hoods. 3 different kinds actually for the TA alone. kinda cool. A base, R AIR, and then some kind of triple extractor hood that looks different from any hood ive seen before. replacing any kind panel with carbon fiber will reduce alot of weight. and judgin by the last posted reply from mine, its been awhile since the OP had recieved a good anwser to his original question, and i too would like to know a few other trick myself. like more carbonfiber options for TAs

basically remove everything besides the engine, tranny, go with drag wheels, different brakes, sparco steering wheel, and replace driver seat with a sparco racing seat (seatbelt is optional)

if a dedicated track car..cut the front bumper supports and just weld a light bar..also look into getting a lightweight radiator and taking your gas tank out and only running a 5 gallon+ race tank ..of course these are for after you do the all the easier things

Actually, looks like things got kind of stupid. Some good suggestions though in the serious responses. I have scaled my car a couple of times - gained weight in the rear and lost it in the front. It has been a while since the last time I weighed it and more mods have been completed. I do need to drop it back on the scales with the track wheels mounted.

How too reduce car weight??
I would like to get to 3,000 or less. They stated earlier that carbon fiber replacements are good weight reducers, which is true if you buy (dry) carbon fiber which is really expensive. I'm a big dude so weight loss is needed in both the car and myself! LOL
