FYI--- Just a little help from someone who knows!!
Do not clay bar while washing your car!!!! First you will severely scratch your finish(spider webs scratches) because you are pushing sand and dirt particulate across your paint with substantial pressure, second you'll fill your clay bar with that particulate which will render your bar useless unless you need gooey sandpaper.
You do wash your car, dry it and only use the clay bar with the supplied LUBRICANT!!! It is usually a spray detail wax or final detail wax. Basically this spray is for a newly waxed car that has maybe had a few washes to maintain the wax ( paste or gel) that was previously applied. It does not WAX your car!!! It is also used DURING a car show to knock off dust and airborne paticulate that falls during the course of the day. You may also use this detail spray between washes to detail your car and knock LIGHT dust off. Only use a microfiber towel or terry cloth due to the coarseness of other clothes. Never, ever wax in the sun!!!!!! Little spots or not!!! Sun will actually BAKE the wax to your paint, especially darker colors. Always wash, dry and wax your car in the shade!!!!!!!!!! 3m makes the ultimate microfiber towel that is used to remove wax and nock dust of your car without scratching.
If you have any questions regarding detail holler at me, I'll guide you right.
P.S. Disregard any people, regardless of RACE, saying to wax your car and parade through the parks, streets , and downtown showing off the fact that they waxed their car today and they're letting the sun bake it in so it lasts longer and they in turn spend the evening fighting and elbow greasing the hell out of their paint for countlesss hours to remove the baked on shit!!! Then they call me to get a quote on a paintjob simply because they were numbskulls and couldn't read the bottle of wax............................................... .................................................. ...................................uuuuuuuuuuggggg gggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Add glaze after polish.

And I actually skip the wash after the clay bar. Use a 50/50 alcohol mix and wipe the car down. Strips the paint of any previous wax, and cleans it real nice to start the polish, glaze, wax procedure.
Back later if you want more tips. Need to go jog right now though.

Don't want to start a war, but I produce show car paint finishes almost daily and you NEVER want to strip off your wax unless you plan on painting that area!! Wax builds up, and for you to strip it off and reapply only leaves less on your paint overall. To each his own but, I recommend not ever stripping wax off. And C, the glaze is really only effective on cars like ours. Blacks, NBM, SOM, all really can justify a glaze. The glaze or foam pad glaze is made to apply prior to waxing to help fill the (SPIDER WEB SCRATCHES) made from routine washing and drying. As a matter of fact, I use 3m foam pad glaze for all dark colors after a clor sand and buff. It may be hard to imagine, but I can color sand and buff and older paint job to a show car finish that many think needs new paint. Including Acrylic Enamel Paints without clearcoat. You can actually look into the reflection and not find a spider web scratch period. Then you can take a perfectly new microfiber towel and wipe it and see the microscopic ( spider web) scratches just from one wipe!!!

C is right on that one. No need to wash after clay bar. Just wipe residue off with microfiber towel after clay bar then wash!!
WASH
CLAY BAR
GLAZE - if dark color
WAX
Never use dish detergent on your car!!! Only use car wash soap. Dish soap does what it's intended to do and that is remove grease and baked on food!! Guess what? It also removes your WAX!!! Never remove your WAX,C!!!!!
Mother's wax is the best outside 3m. Meguiar's is next. No turtle wax shit or anything similar!! Mother's also makes car wash soap and a glaze I believe they refer to as a SWIRL REMOVER!! SAME THING!!!
Always remove the B's form your paint A.S.A.P.
Bird shit
Brake fluid
Blood
Bugs
All are extremely acidic and WILL ETCH into clearcoats fast, again unfortunately our darker cars are more prone due to the heat buildup in the sun helping the acids at work!!!
Of course don't forget about the DAMN egg throwers!! As pissed as you will be if it ever happens, before you load your clip, or chamber a round, get that egg off of your paint. It is one of the quickest paint removers known to man other that actual paint stripper!!!
