My dad killed a buck several seasons back that made the Pope-n-Young and Boone & Crockett record books. It scored 178-1/3 by their point system if I remember right. It had one little kicker coming off the front tine which deducted points, but other than that, it was damn near symmetrical.

It also had a mane on the back of it's neck. It was scored as the 10th largest deer ever killed in the state of Indiana with a compound bow. He had been hunting almost 25 years to score one like that.

I have a picture of it if someone wants to send me their e-mail address and upload for me. I can't right now.

I love guns... bows tend to snap in my inner elbow and Lord! if you do not remember the snap forever! Although I will admit bows are sexy stuff. I had a woman friend once with a back as beautiful as any classic statue... She was an archer. I just point gun and boom. Got to admire the flying beauty of an arrow.

worst mistake of archery... letting the string go over your inner forearm upon release... i've had a compound bow snap in half on me as well... i'm luck that i didn't get hurt...

Sounds like the draw length on the bow you shot was a bit long for you. Quite common to have the bowstring hit the inner forearm when the elbow is kept straight. With a bow that was properly setup for you, and a little practice with your shooting form, it would be just as easy as shooting a gun.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Had to go about an hour west of my office this afternoon to pick through and photograph a pile of junk stored in a semi-trailer. The joys of divorce...

You need someone to "teach" you how to shoot and not someone who "thinks" they do.

    Thanks!! Doing pretty good.
She is quite happy lately. Things are currently in check with her NF, so that is good. MRI next Friday to see how the tumors look. Last time they had stalled in growth!!
