    Nope!
You might try Google searching water injection engines.
    You'll learn something.

MMO for freeing the lifter for sure. Ive used ATF a number of times in my old truck for getting rid of the carbon due to the leaking valve seals. I dont suggest using it in oil. Use seafoam instead of that crap, works a lot better and if your going to try freeing a stick lifter use Marvel. Worked great on my WWII jeep.

I have dumped water into carb'ed engines to loosen carbon deposits when pinging and knocking was a problem- the guy that told me to do it was an old racer who pointed out that when you tore down an engine with a leaky head gasket, the cylinder that was getting coolant in it was always super clean.

ATF is basically 30 wt oil with high detergent to keep particles in suspension- not sure how it fares on the SF or SG motor oil rating, I wouldn't run too hard or too far, but put a quart in and drive around for a couple hours then change oil- MMO is more like a petroleum solvent, probably similar to Seafoam- again wouldn't work the engine too hard if I had a bunch in the oiling system.

Good luck, keep us posted on what you find- I have a new tick since I changed cams, I assume that one of my push rods is a little loose- it goes away after the car warms up.

+1 on Seafoam its a great product and works amazing. Get a can of Seafoam and the Seafoam deep creep. Theres a write up over at ls1tech on how to do it.

ok its official, im a DUMBASS!!!! so ive been trying to track down this ticking sound i noticed about 4 months ago. so i changed out the pushrods and i did a plug and wire swap around the same time(about a month ago). anyways, i got the plugs in and pushrods in stared her up and she sounded great, no ticking nothing. actually seemed to be running 10times better than before, so i enjoyed some spirited driving and when i got back i heard a really noticeable tick, tick, tick,. i was like did a rocker come loose or something??? took off the valve covers and everything checked out ok. so i read around a listened to a few ls1's with lifter problems and i start thinking oh shit a really f'd somthing up this time. i ran the atf thru the engine as well as avariety of different things; seafoam, MMO., ect...(and no not all at once) nothing worked and heres why. i get on ls1tech and read about a few jackasses that didnt tighten there sparkplugs and they had a ticking sound they couldnt track down, well folks I'M one of those jackasses. all this time and stress and all it was, was a loose #6 and #4 plug im just thankfull ass a mofo that it wasnt a failing lifter.....

short version: all that was wrong with my car is that i didnt tightent the #6 and #4plug all the way it. i know i know

Thanks to everyone for your help and info.

It's always great when the solution is so simple

I'll add that to my memory bank, that slight ticking can be cause by loose spark plugs.

Thanks for posting the solution btw, normally someone has a problem here but we never hear back from them!

yea its great that it was an easy fix, i would say that it would've been a good excuse to build a 408 or something but with my current situation there is no way i could afford it. i am thinking cam now though.....
