How to Program your key FOB write up.

I know this is an old post but....those bastards wanted $75 to reprogram my T/A. Thank you for this

wow that's actually cheap! I went to the GM dealership back in 06 when I first got my 98 ta and the guy told me $100 for a new fob and $200 for programing... needless to say I DID NOT buy the fob there nor did I have them program it. Went on ebay and got a brand new GM fob for $25 and instructions on how to program it. Pretty simple.

I just bought a new fob for my truck at the local dealer here, and they programmed it for free The fob was only $40.

Is there anything else that can cause the car to not respond to the fob? Or have I had supremely bad luck purchasing a replacement?

BCM could be bad. Any issues with radio, lights ? Those together are usually a bad BCM.

Well, the fog lights haven't worked in years and the right front running light works when it's in a good mood but these were well before the key fob failure. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking something ridiculously simple.
