Oh, and Goodyear SUCKS! Michelin or

The Tripletred is an over priced piece of shit. My salesmen love selling them because they get their spiffs on them, but they suck. Every one that i have ever balanced has never spun true. They always have some kind of wobble or hop in them. They are rated for 85,000 miles, but i have seen people bring them in with 40,000-50,000 that need to replace all 4. Complete crap IMO. I've been working in the tire industry for almost 4 years, and i'll NEVER recommend Tripletreds.

I was driving home with my buddy in his 92 blazer. he had original tires on it still. one of the front tires de-treaded itself going 55 mph.

the whole center tread came off, as if it was a re-tread tire!!!!! but it wasn't! all we heard was a boom, and a slap, and the whole effin thing took a shite, and ripped off!

he's still got the tire and tread in his garage. I have a bunch of pictures on my phone, but not a cable to transfer them. I might take my camera to his house to show you that tire. its nuts.

and it didnt make the vehicle swerve. it still held tire pressure, and it still drove on it. it just kinda ripped off, and he just pulled over

Cause he was supposed to panic and stab the brakes hard. I thought the driver error part was well proven in the Exploder case a few years ago

I don't like Michelin because of their mileage, I like them because of their quality. Every one I've ever balanced called for low amounts of weight, virtually ZERO tire movement, as well. I know they are expensive, but if I had the money, I would definitely buy a set. Talk about expensive, look up some Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Anything in a "sporty" size is well over 250 a tire. I just don't like Goodyear because I rarely see anything good on their behalf. They do have some nice tires, don't get me wrong, just not my number one choice of manufacturer. I had some Michelin Hydroedge on my car, and I loved them.

I run that same wrangler on my truck. I always just call it the "mud wrangler" because it's the large lugged mud tires but I think it's actually called an m+s. I got ~70k out of my last set of those.

THey are fantastic tires and were the OEM tire for my jeep for many years. God I hope they still make them.

The quality of Michelin construction is quite good, ill give you that. But I really cant rationalize their price to wear ratio, I worked on a car just today that had Michelin MXV4s and at 20k all 4 were spent. This was on a 4 cyl sonata driven by a 75 yr old man, so I know he wasnt railing corners and doing holeshots either. 165 a piece. Fuck that, give me so bridgestones, or kumhos. Good tires for much cheaper. Wheel weights are cheaper then tires too man.

I do like Bridgestone and Kumho as well, and I would buy those over Michelin. If I had money to burn, on the other hand, I'd definitely go with Michelin. I know using more weight is cheaper than buying better tires, I just don't like to use more than 3-5 ounces of weight per tire. Balancing them perfectly isn't going to help the vibration caused by an out of round tire. I just like what I have seen from Michelin, that's all. I've also seen some very nice Goodyear tires, and I"m not saying they're the worst, I just don't prefer them.

I'll feel like a hypocrite if I don't say this, but I have 2 Tripletreds on my current ride, but I took them from work 'cuz they were free and I had a hole in the sidewall of one of my other ones. I'll never pay for a set or talk anyone into a set.

I know now that I am going to check every tire I buy before I pay for it. I am not going to get fucked. That's just crazy at how many lives they are putting in danger.
