414 RWHP 395 RWTQ- 00 Black Ram Air Trans Am
You have $13k for play $$$ for the car? Or are you spending your last $13k in the bank on the car??? If it's play $$$ shit go for it, but if you are breaking the bank just to catch your friends mustang.....well I wouldn't recommend that.

Thanks a bunch for the breakdown of parts and price (approximate). Is there an advantage of having a motor/nitrous car over a blown one, other than having to refill the nitrous bottle?[/

Thanks for your concern. My rivalry with my friend first started with our motorcycles(more my world)and we both spent a nice amount of money in them, with me coming out on top 90% of the time. Now I've decided to step more into his world with the cars. I know going fast is going to cost, I just don't have any experience in the car world.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
^ His prices seem to reflect the cost of parts + installation. Not all of us know how to wrench (or in my case don't want to wrench anymore).

For 13K play money you'll be able to burn him to the ground. You can get a 408 stroker short block for around 3500 or, L92 heads and decent cam for kit another 2K, FAST 90/90 1K, stall and built trans and rear like stated earlier for another 4K, tune, and full exhaust and you should be in that ballpark motor alone no power adders, and still be driveable. If his 95 stang runs that fast you should also have less in yours to make it run that fast. His was what mid 14's or higher stock? Yours should be in the mid 13 stock.

Since this is your buddy and it's a challenge you shouldn't use nitrous unless he does. If he is using nitrous then for about 5k you could get a turbo or supercharger kit plus fuel system upgrades. Put nitrous on that as well and you're going to cream this guy. Also, for 13k you could buy an already built 11 second camaro and just keep the other as a daily.

I shit you not. I did it twice in Greer South Carolina.
I averaged 8.3
The tranny in the 98 is great. Put the shifter in 2 and it starts out in 1st gear and shifts to second way better. I never went out of second gear.
My times were in the 80mph range when I crossed the line. And my tack. was right at red line.
My 02 Ws6, when you put it in that second spot it just starts in second gear. It doesn't do the shifting like my 98ss did.
So your estimate of 12.5 is off because in the 1/4 I would have to put my car in drive and not be able to use the 2 spot on the shifter.
My 02 A4 Trans am feels slower than my 98ss. Maybe my car was a freak or maybe I just used every thing correctly.
Remember, I only did that time twice it was not all of the time as well.
Oh and I said stock but it did have a flowmaster cat-back on it. but what is that 10hp at the most.

Sorry about the long post, but I feel I have to stick up for myself since I'm not the type of person to BS.
What do I have to gain by lying to a bunch of car people who go to the track all of the time.
