Who cares how much money he has in the bank as long as he can make it to the next check and not go hungry. It's his money so let him do what he wants to. Personally I'd say f*ck the windshield and buy the parts. Mow some yrads and make $200 in a weekend.

uhhhhhh........I work my part time job to pay for my car and the mods.
My full time job is for my bills and savings.
I don't want to use my regular funds to pay for the windshield b/c I am very close to buying my first house and I am getting married in a little over a year.
I see where your coming from with your post and 4 years ago I would have said your right and bit my bottom lip
Nick,
I don't agree with what you said. The economy is way to tight to live pay check to pay check. I always tell everyone you should have at least 6 months worth of bills saved up in the bank just incase you lose your job.

I would guess that too. Sometimes I wish I could go back to being 16-18 and not have a care in the world were my money went. My car in high school was much faster than my camaro now. Spending money on it was so easy. I got a paycheck I bought parts every week. Now its ok I have to work x hours part time to get this part, and wait. I have owned the car since october and only put a slp lid, cai, and a muffler for cheap sound.
Don't get me wrong MagicMan there are times where I just want to pull the money out of the house/wedding fund and get LT true duals, cam, stall, etc........ but I think about it for a little laugh and get back to work.

I see where some of you are coming from on the whole saving 6 months thing but truthfully I think that is a little overrated. Now maybe a couple of grand in the bank would definitely help if something comes up but this dude is young and when he gets to be as old as ya'll he will have to be more responsible and look out for his family but the dudes young and when I was younger I'd gave my left and right nut to have a bad ass car like most of ya'll.
But I'm 24 I have a really good job, I take care of my family. I own a house, a 2004 silverado and a 2008 jetta (wife's) and I'd give my last dollar to see my daughter happy.
People are too worried about money these days to enjoy themselves and live life for what it's worth. If there does come a time when life gets hard then that's why you have family and friends if you can't handle it yourself. Or there are tons of other ways to get by until you get back on your feet. For this guy to work 2 jobs and be able to pay his bills then why can't he reward himself which is really just another investment he is making into his car?
So call me wrong or whatever but I know that I don't have 6 months of bills saved up in the bank and I go to sleep with a smile on my face every night and wake every morning with it still there.
Hell if the government can make us trillions of dollars in debt and not be worried about then why should we be over a couple of hundred dollars? IMO

And I have NEVER owned a credit card and would never do that. Learn to live within your means.
If you can't pay cash then don't get it until you can.

So wait, yer 24, and paid cash for a house, a silverado, and a new vw? Damn, someone hit the lottery. Or you have a line of credit. Ill bet it's the latter. Just because you dont have credit cards doesn't mean you don't have credit.

Sorry, I am paying for a house and the jetta. I have credit but not credit cards. Everyone has credit pretty much. But the guy says that he lived off his credit cards or whatever and got into debt bad. That's called living outside your means.
I'm sure you are one of them that has to live off credit cards as I can feel the hostility.

I have a better job than your dad probably and it's not dealing drugs. Did that in high school and probably made more than you do now. I proudly pay my taxes every 2 weeks.

Nick,
I would like to give you props on you current life situation. To be that young and have a house, and 2 newer cars is very good. Also to have by your standards a good paying job is also excellent.
I am 25 years old and my soon to be wife is almost 30. Both of us made big mistakes when we were younger. I have gotten laid off when making great money so I am always anal about my money.
Like I said earlier I would like to be in your shoes right now b/c you do own your house. That is my only goal right now. That is why I was pissed about the windshield b/c of the penny crunching I am doing right now to get the 20% down on my first house. It kills me to see people my age working for $12-$14 an hour and thinking that they are rich and could go out and buy anything they want.
A good friend of mine is 29 and still living at home, bought his first vehicle over $1000 2 months ago with his parents cosigning. He has no money in the bank living paycheck to paycheck making 13 an hour. Yet he has all the cool toys like an iphone, ps3, killer stereo in his Envoy. Thats not me I was raised in a very low class house eating pasta 3 times a week.
ok enough sorry for the rant I just get heated over this subject

i never lived off of my CC's... i wasn't in to debt that bad... about $26,000 or so... it was not living out side my own means at all... i was using them to establish greater credit... i simply got tired of sending them a check ever month and got rid of them all together once i established my desired credit...

It's called COLLEGE and lots of hard work and very long hours. I come from a family that lived an average lifestyle but my parents never gave me anything. I always had to work for any money that I wanted and that was on top the chores we had to do. I was just saying that there are other ways of getting the $200 than form your current job. I still mow peoples yard just to do it and it gives me more money...I'll do a lot of stuff for a dollar and I don't put my self above others. Hell I mow a mexicans yard (not trying to be racist.) I'm sure you know how to do stuff and can pick little side jobs too.
Well I wish you and you're wife the best of luck and you'll get the house but it takes time and things always happen for a reason.
