As far as performance on these cars,,,I couldn't say with single style systems,,,,but I have cutouts on 3 other cars of mine,,,,all of which have true dual exhaust systems,,,and they are very effective when opened at the track.
Depending on which car I take, I can see as much as 2 tenths and 2 mph opening the cutouts verses running through the mufflers.
On a 4th gen,,,,If you can run an off road Y-pipe then I think the best place for cutouts would be a pair of them in the Y-pipe on each side before the system funnels down to a single pipe,,,,it would seem to be more beneficial,,,acting as a dual system when the cutouts are open,,,thats how I would do it on a 4th gen with single systems. Seen a few at the track that way and owners seemed to like it.

i had this argument with a guy on youtube, because he said that running a sport bike with the muffler off will kill the engine. there is a lot of piping thats comes down, so burning a valve would not happen, but he then started some crap about how turbos don't need any backpressure, but told him they do, because it allows the turbo to spool up quicker.
who's right?

The old problem of turbos spooling up quicker is just that,,,,an old problem that has been resolved with new designs, they spool so much quicker now than turbo's of even just 5 years ago,,,,that spooling problems are very small or non existent now.
You both are right,,,,depending on which era we are talking about
Years ago yes,,,,,nowadays,,,not so much.
Although I found that with my Typhoon,,,the more I freed up the exhaust the quicker it would spool and the more boost it had,,,,to a point where it would overbooost and cause other problems,,,,ooops.
