I also had a 98 ss, a 94z totally built (blew da motor dragracing), a 69 Z (wish I never sold it), a 99Z, and a 95 convert Z. All cars got shit gas mileage, and I loved every minute of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya nothing like that feeeling/hearing that sound, however if you have a heavy foot, are doing 80 and still getting 22 mpg, imagine some1 who drives it to get some decent mileage, crusing at around 60? im not claiming to get great mileage, ive never driven the car more than 20 miles at a time(500 miles in 6 months) ahaha, but i do know some guys who have calculated it, one of them with longtubes and exhaust actually said he was getting close to 29, think about it, at 60 mph, these cars(in the 6 spd.) are at 1450 RPM, thats ridiculous, by the way, is your car auto or stick? autos get worse mileage

Hell ya indeed. That is why I sold the '98, it was an automatic with 2.73 gears. Best with that car was a 13.65 @ 102.95, usually it ran a 13.9-14.0 @ 100. I sold my '67 400 4-spd Firebird, had that car 11 years, it got 9 MPG city 10 highway. Yeah, long tubes on that car, and no cat since it was not required from the factory! No more automatics for my sports car ever again either. Still can't believe how much faster my '00 WS6 is than my '67, and almost triple the gas mileage! And it stops more than once! And I can go around corners better! And safer if some asshole runs a redlight and smashes into me.

Gotta love the new cars over the old cars. I want to get a 66 chevelle SS-396 but it seems too crazy. I might just get another f body, maybe the 335th annniv ed SS. Or a ZO6 if I can afford it. BUT whatever it is 6 speed baby!!!!!!!!!!!

I would say get the Chevelle if you find a good deal. Love those 66-67 GM A-body sail panels behind the rear window. But we digress. I also had a 67 GTO with a .030 428, automatic. Best for that car was a 13.6x @ 104.x. Drove it to New Orleans (830 miles for me one way) in the late 90s, got 11 MPG highway with my 18 gallon tank. Sure was fun, gas was right at $1 per gallon. Wonder how much quicker I would've been with slicks? Car looked great too. My '67 Firebird had a best of 13.27 @ 105.7, usually ran mid 13s, and no slicks on that car either.
