2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
Yeah, we have Google Earth here at my work, that have more recent photos than google maps, but some of the aerial work is newer, they just haven't updated all of it because it's free and they don't have to.
If you pay $200 you could take a 3"x3" piece of paper, write a message on it, put it in your yard, and the federal government can zoom in on it and take a photo, and you can read the pic....THAT is really F**kin scary....
But back on topic, the sharp edges are sexy...the 350Z lookin Acura thingy on the other hand.....well,if that ever hits the streets with a Pontiac emblem....

I don't like the Camaro/Firebird concept either, trans am's have more V look rather than a boxy style.
Back to the drawing board!

After seeing those the concepts I sort of just hope they let the Bird stay dead... I think 4th gens look a whole lot better than any of these concepts

With regards to the GTO, I think that Holden (GM's Australian division) did a good job coming up with a full-size sport coupe and sedan when they made the Monaro and the Commodore, but for GM to take the design and slap GTO on the side of it was a shit decision to save money on designing and building a new prototype for a legendary name. They used Austrailia as the testbed for the cars, and Australians liked the Monaro and Commodore (notice that the Commodore is still in production), so GM said, "Hey, since these are such popular cars, let's save ourselves the hassle of designing something new and bring these to America! But what name to give them... hmm... I know! We'll call them GTOs, because people will think they've got balls if they see a name they recognize!"
And we thought they learned their lesson when they redesigned the Impala into something my grandmother would drive to sunday brunch at the old-folks home. The good news is that maybe now, since so many loyal owners are angry at GM for the Impala and the GTO F-ups, GM will stop pissing into the wind and bring us a fresh design for the Firebird that's not a mid-size sedan with front wheel drive. They're already ahead of the game with the Camaro, now all they have to do is not screw it up when (and IF) the 'Bird comes back.
Key word: IF. GM hasn't officially stated that the Firebird nameplate is going to reappear. If not, it's good news for us current 'bird owners; that means our models will be worth a lot more than a 4th-gen Camaro in ten years.

2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
Hey, Michael Jordan came out of retirement for a short while....just because they retired it doesn't mean diddly to me....i'm not saying that it's a good thing (since my next car will be a 2000+ WS6, hoping I can get one before the value shoots up like the stupid supras did)....at any rate, I'm just waiting patiently to see something come out that's not a Vette with an LS9, 650 stock HP sounds good to me(though if it ever goes in a Camaro, they will probly detune it...bastards).

no, in the forum its been covered before, theres a couple types of ways a company can "retire" a car, if someone knows the names feel free to chime in, GM put the officially done title on the trans am, is it possible to see a car resembling a trans am? yes, will it be called a trans am? no

I'm not saying they didn't officially retire it, but a company can easily undo it's own doings...it's not against the law...i'm just stating the possibility, not facts. I believe you and have heard the same stuff myself...but if they think it would sell, especially in GM's financial state, by God they'll sell it, and bring the name back....just stating opinion, no facts here.

Didn't they 'retire' the Monte Carlo, Impala, GTO, and Camaro then bring them back?
(From http://www.windingroad.com/features-...tiac-trans-am/ )
"A better choice would be “Trans Am,” the brand name retired in parallel with the Firebird/Camaro at the end of 2002. The name remains in the intellectual property war chest behind Bob Lutz’s desk and some within the company say it’s set for a return. The basic thinking behind the name is: if the Camaro is coming back in man pants, Pontiac must answer.

GM's new corporate plans http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/...ess/index.html are for Chevrolet to take on Toyota, and Pontiac to be the excitement division http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/...rogress/3.html . From what I've read and heard, GM has Chevrolet's Corvette division in cooperation with Holden and Pontiac on developing a new Pontiac sports car to replace the GTO/Firebird/Trans Am market.
Whatever they call it, something's definitely coming. With the Camaro already in production, I expect to see the Firebird/Trans Am back soon as they will most likely be built jointly to reduce cost, as they were in the past.2002 WS6 Trans Am, A4, SLP lid, P&P TB, 3500 stall, 24K GVW tranny cooler, HPTuners, Pacesetter LTs, Bassani dual exhaust with 'x' crossover, coolant bypass, sealed airbox to hood.
