parents helped me get a auto loan at 16 then helped me get another at 18. Got my first gas credit card at 18 and a loan at 19 by myself. then I got a few more credit cards and always paid on time. then came the loan for the camaro and now i have a 700 plus credit score. Yeah I did the whole credit card thing too and my stuff if always paid on time. This is my first auto loan. First loan through a bank in general. I paid 16 grand for the car, put 5 down, and got a 3 year finance on it. Im aiming to pay more than Im supposed to every month so I can have it paid for faster.

Well this is how I see it. For future always give yourself some breathing room and take the loan out for 5yrs so you can have a lower payment. Yeah you may have to pay a little more interest, but just aim to pay it off quicker by paying more towards it every month. Then when times get rough like they seem to be, you can always go back to making the minimum payment each month. 9.4% is really not that terrible for your first auto loan w/out a cosigner. Ive seen much much worse. FYI ive had really good luck through credit unions, may want to look into refi. Anyways Originally Posted by JHayesLS1
