i saw this car new back in 96.sold new at local pontiac dealer that was owned by the same people that owned the ford dealer where i worked.pontiac salesman called me and said he had a "special"firebird i should check out.i was a big mustang man then.it is a 3.8/a4 i said all show,no go.didn't care for the green/gold paint either.

I've never read this thread before and didn't know anything about these cars. Huh... I just keep learning new things everyday

They were just appearance packages. If I remember correctly they were made by a company in Chattanooga, TN (that also made conversion vans). I used to own the 1995 #12, sold it to a fellow in Georgia back around 2003. It was a cool car back in the day. I also had a 1982 Mecham Racing Trans Am #199 and that was not just an appearance package (400 small block, posi, 4 wheel disk brakes, 5 speed, koni suspension, etc), but I'd have to scan those photos in (I also have a ton of photos of the 1995 that I could scan in).

Collectors car? Yes people go ape shit over them even back in the day. The Mecham Trans Am? Dennis Mecham himself wanted to buy it back from me, but I ended up selling that to someone else in 2006.
