the only thing i know of vipers breaking is motor mounts, and the rt/10's have side exhaust problems...

I dont know that they have a problem with breaking things ... but if anything ever does break it is very exspensive .. I also read that you have to have a Viper mech to even work on the car for anything ...

Well I just see it this way ... The Cobra or the T/A are cars you could live with , prob more to the Cobra ... But a Viper is a car you take out for a good romp every now and then ...

finally ran into a cobra on the street so i can have a stupid opinion on this matter being that ive already raced a ws6 and a viper. (yeah, dont ask)

the first one was this past friday and i resisted the temptation because i have amassed 3 more speeding tickets which brings the total to 16 over a 3 year period. moving on.....
the guy dropped it into 2nd and slammed the gas, and i swear to god the blower whine made me crap my skivvies. it accelerated from 45-50 like i couldnt believe. i have only seen one other car thats scared me as much, and it was a (yep you guessed it) a black ws6.

anyway, the one i did race i caught on the highway. we went at it from 70 and i have to say with no bullshit that he was only 3 and a half to 4 cars ahead of me to 120 when we shut it down. the car was bad ass and the guy was laughing and giving me the thumbs up! he then showed me that he was, after all, drinking and driving as evidence of the miller lite he whipped out after the race!!
very humbling experience but at the same time reaffirmed in my mind that the ls1 is truly an unbelievable engine.

the viper and i....well, you get the picture im sure.

the viper is cool but not my style, the cobra i love to death but youre looking at 28,xxx to get into one. i say spend about 19 on a low low mileage ws6 and throw a few grand at it and go have some fun. i dont think cobras will be much of a problem for a heads/cam ls1.

Excellent post. Hahah but head cam ls1 versus only lightly modified cobra. Example one of the starter pulleys that are used like a 2.9, and a catback putting like 440-450 at the wheels versus a 346 head cam. If he strokes the ls1 and head cams it versus jus the lightly modified cobra then all bets are off. I think for the money the cobra is one hell of a buy. same thing with the ls1s. I think you can get a 03 cobra now for like 24 if u look hard enough. maybe less. the ls1s however can be had for dirt cheap now, its up to the buyer how clean a car he buys though. if i ever got a ws6 it would have to be under 60k miles and at least an 01

ive said time and time again my neighbor has a whipple charged cobra with true duals. i dont really want to guess how much he's packing.

you just have to be happy with what you choose to build. if i run mid 11s i will be happy because i know that i will hang with large cammed f bodies, the cobras, the z06s on the street. at the track trap speed is ALL i care about. and getting the best sixty foot. i love low e.t.s but if i trap 130 and run an 11.60 i know my cars a beast, and then i can recognize how worthless of a driver i am.....

i totally agree about the cobra being a bargain. stock youre hitting sub 12 second e.ts with decent driving. and put 1000 into a smaller pulley and some headers and watch out! all im saying is that if i had 28000 to spend (average price of 03-04 cobras, respectively) i would buy a low mileage f body and throw alot of money into mods. this may also be a biproduct of my age and a testament to my ever dwindling bank account.

its a very tough call. there are days when i would trade my f body for a cobra and then i have days when im neo nazi about my z28.
