I would agree the cobalt is not a bad deal for what you pay. Those things get pretty quick. I would drive my buddies around and pwn/shame 05 gt's. Hell before he destroyed the damn car he raced me and he would stick on my bumper. From a dig they suck but on the roll those little sucker scream. All they need is full exhaust, smaller pully, intake, ported blower, and some injectors and those things will smoke alot of cars.

Well let me see. When if first dynoed the car it was 236 to the wheel, i forgot how much torque, we raced against his brothers 03 GT with underdrive pulley and muffler, he beat it from a dig and a roll. We dynoed it at JBA in California and the guy said that the car dynoed more than a stock gt.
He then did stage two but opted to go with a smaller lighter pulley and a cold air intake, he then dynoed 253whp and 248wtq. After that he put a straight pipe/header on there and a toque arm but never dynoed it. I'm pretty sure that was easily around high 260's to the wheel. We would dog the hell out of 05 GT's, i'm not sure but they dyno around 250's. Plus take into consideration the weight of the car, the cobalt barely tipped in over 2900 on a full tank. Seems right to me.
I had my camaro tuned with a catback and lid fresh oil m6 and made 226 to the wheel torque evades me right now. After that i went and got basani mid lentghs and a 3 inch y pipe and free mods. We raced from a dig and i blew his doors off. But when we raced from a roll 60, he would be right on my bumper up to 130-140, we did this several times and i just could not believe it.
Sadly he wrecked and totaled the car after driving home from the movies he did not see a truck switch lanes in front of him at the last minute at a red light while talking to his brother in the passenger seat, but now he owns a 02 petwer z28.
He is also on these forums, i'll ask him to chime in, maybe he has dyno sheets from the car still lying around. We are both on a westpac deployment right now.

i would not pay 20k for one of these cobalts. too cheesy looking and too slow for the money. an srt 4 is just an all around better bargain in my opinion but i really dont like those either.
its the front wheel drive that kills my interest. and the fact that alot of people ive come across with both cars say "yeah im getting the stage 2 so..." and really have no clue what that means.
its just the excuses that wear me out. you obviously could afford a v8 being that you spent 20k on a cobalt so dont get upset when you get bested and attribute it to your lack of cylinders. its not anyones fault but yours.
sorry for the rant.

Those Cobalts are pretty nice... and they would make hella good DD's... I once tried to race one...
I heard a wierd shreek coming up at me...i was w/ my g/f and her bro in my Z doin like 60mph... and I look back and it's a Cobalt racing some Ricer Civic... smoking him by like 10 cars... so then I decide to flog it before he gets near me... and I honestly couldn't catch him... he was already doing 100+mph... and he could cut traffic like a maniac...
at that point... I realised that the Cobalt SS S/C is a really kool car... like a quick little brother to the F-bodys

i'd agree with srt-4 being a better deal.
It depends on what your into, that little car could handle and it was the best breaks i've ever felt, that thing could stop like no other.
I've ran into people who are ignorant, all stage 2 was injectors smaller pulley and a tune, i'm not sure though i would have to ask my buddy.
I personally like the look of a cobalt ss/sc. If you want to go bargain shopping you can find a faster car for way cheaper, but why not buy what you like, i would never pay close to 30k for a stang, i would rather buy a cobalt. Regardless i would not buy either because i love my f-bods too much.
I knew a couple of people who were cool and drove cobalts, not ignorant and lame. I did one time race this dude with all the works done to his ion redline, ported blower, injectors, aftermarket intercooler, custom intake, full exhaust and other crap. I blew the guys doors off several times in some dig races. All he said was his clutch was bad, sure. Then i told him i was racing with out a rev limiter and that i was shifting early because i did not want to bounce off redline. That pissed the guy off a bit.

It all depends on what you want. The cobalt SS comes stock with leather recaro seats and every option you can think of, the srt-4 has a limited amount of options.(as far as the 04-05's go, roll down rear windows were standard)
+1 for the cobalt ss beating mustang GT's. whether its the car or the driver its nice to see a 4cyl. gm dog a v8.

im sorry but unless someone has proof of a stock cobalt beating the newest gen gt im not going to believe it.
specify which gts youre talking about. if its 05 and up i cant see the cobalt winning.

Naw.
I drive her car more often when we are together. Trans Am doesn't get many miles as I am very picky about what kind of weather I will take it out in.
Grand Am is getting up in miles (87,000) now so we take the newer vehicle out most of the time.
My Grand Am just gets me to and from work.
