98 SS Indy Pace car???

**aerojt** · 07-19-2007, 03:01 PM

There is a spot in the attic for every stock part on this car, I plan to keep everything that way it can be totally original if it needs to be. I even have the original cassette deck that came in it. That rare single exhaust though, I'm curious if someday they will be worth more or something, who knows, weirder things have happened.

The pace car for 98 was a Corvette.

I drove a 93 Indy Pace Car as my daily driver for 5 years. 4-1/2 years with a supercharger on it and I towed my boat with it! I average 17.5 mpg over 5 years of driving that car, it was a great car.

Not to be mean or anything towards you...but why would you tow something with a Pace Car Camaro? I even see a Ford Expoloder in the background...why not tow it with that? Isn't your pace car a rare car? No offense or anything..just wonderin'

I think he just wanted the opportunity to beat a Mustang while pulling a boat!

It was a 98 SS that was all black with Pace car decals on the side. They had a sign in the window saying it was a pace car. I always thought they were all white or partially white. I'm pretty sure someone just put the decals on it.

LOL, no that was back in November when I started this thread. I saw the car a couple of times after that, but I didn't get to talk to the guy driving it. I'll grab the vin off it when I spot it parked or talk to him if I'm able to catch him if I spot him again. I'm more curious about it now then I was when I first found it.

I thought it was funny that this thread was dead for 6 months then was suddenly alive again. That happens a lot on this site.

I never looked into putting one on. In a weird way it's cool to pull trailer with them, but they look so ugly.

Nope, just get one of the more hidden receiver hitches so you can take the ball part off when your not using it. You can always put a classy tennis ball on it I guess!

**ATCharming** · 07-21-2007, 12:28 AM

the hatch will most likely be removed right after we get back

how bout this... we'll buy a hitch from like walmart, use the ball part from my dads truck, then return the hitch when we're done (i say use my dads ball part so that the part doesnt look used when we return it)
haha

Car hitches are 1.5" I think and truck hitches are 2" for the square metal part so that won't help any.

no, just looked at the Standard Guide to Camaro and there is no 98 Indy SS. There was a 97 white with hugger orange stripes.
