I carry too. For a while, a bike was my only form of transportation and when I went out at night and had to pass bad neighborhoods, I wanted a concealed handgun license. But you don't shoot somebody for talking shit or looking at your wife and daughter. When I carry, I back down more to shit I wouldn't normally wouldn't take. I can't fistfight then or get into a physical confrontation, risking the gun falling out in the middle of a fight, so it's either shoot or run. So I run more. I know one guy who legitmately shot attackers, and have friends who've been shot at. It's not badass or cool at all. The guy did share the experience on a different board, if I find it I'll post a link. Short of it is, followed by a group of guys, couldn't get away, they stopped him and his girlfriend, he pulled a gun and killed 2 of them with shots to body and heads. Charged with murder, found not guilty, $9000 in court fees, and his girlfriend dumped him afterwards because she couldn't get over the violence. I've done some stupid stuff too and had some close calls that I don't want to share and get flamed over, but have never shot or even drew on anyone.

Guys, don't waste your time arguing. If anti-gunners try to give a rational argument against guns and carry instead of jerk-knee emotional reactions, then we've got something to answer to. Just a bunch of sarcastic, mindless remarks from people who know nothing of guns, crime, or related stats means nothing.

In regard to the original post, I've been on both sides. Sometimes if you are drunk, you don't notice that you're leering. If they're just talking or looking, just let it go. If they start threatening you or approaching the wife and sister, then you take action.

I carry a pistol as well and keep a loaded 12 gage shotgun at my bedside. With this day and age you can't trust anyone, it's sad that it's come to this but things have changed. Everyone of us here at work carries a gun at all times so it's a part of me, kinda like carrying your wallet. Now using my gun on someone would be a last resort because I don't want to hurt anyone, especially killing them. I've done enough of that in Iraq and it still bothers me even though it was a life or death situation where I had no choice. Just remember, Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
