    No I haven't

but I saw a kick ass case trying to remember the manufacuter

ummm well in either case if I find the URL

    they have some screwy cases

the one I want is pyramid shapped runs 4 case fanns 2 bottom 2 top of the pyramid thermal current efficient I would imagine

    but the case costs $300

but it's soo gimp'd looking and I have to have it.. rather or not I need it lol

but i use an aluminum right now... poor cooling characteristics... so I keep my comp out of case now... till I get a better cooling case for it

Specially with the UV neon I had... that would heat the comp up drastically

specially the CPU temp would go up almost 20-40 degrees from idle to heavy load.

yeah I know .. I trip on the cases now .. and the weirdest is always cool because its different.

However I need to stick with something thats pro yet out of this world like the Lian that looks like a gargoyles lair.

I'll start posting up links to cases.

I wish I could find that case that was an Intel engineering sample that ran a processor to 13 gigs because of the freon ensconced enviornment.

    Tip of the Day

Lets check out some more safe performance enhancements for your XP OS.

    right click on My Computer
    Click Properties
    Click Advanced
    Click Settings under Performance

Right now you have *Let Windows choose whats best for my computer*
I use this as it seems to be best in letting XP adjust itself to all my Hi-Perf goodies with the main concern being how XP wants to perform in accordance with my BFG Asylum 5900 video card.

You can safely click either *Adjust for best appearance or performance.*

You can click *Custom* and check and uncheck any boxes to see whats best for you.

This ones fun and I like this one because you don't have to fret about screwing anything up ... in fact its a like a child in a candy store picking and choosing all the good stuff.

hey aerialist any tips to make a amd turion64 run properly and "blazing". the comp is new and is fast but sometimes even with the opt online shit doesnt load as fast i feel it should.

    stanger,

    that's a laptop right?

I think the turion is the centrio equivalent for AMD's which are most common on laptops.

If that's the case... There's only a few things you can do, but even that won't make a tremendous difference.

Specially if i'm not mistaken that is a game you are trying to play???

But, to improve load performance the best way to do this is a hardware change on the computer/laptop.

Utilize SATA drives, or SCSI configurations. These drastically decrease load times of programs specially high end demanding applications such as games or render software.

SATA is cheaper of course, and "almost" as fast as SCSI however SCSI is by far the fastest, and the most expensive.

Let me know exactly what you are doing that you feel the load time should be faster.

it really depends on your hardware and what type of application you are running... Only so many windows tweaks will help and to most users the difference is almost un-noticable

    Aerealist,

here's a question for you. Regarding my comp upgrade

Dual core SLI 6600 GT video card 1gb OCZ dual channel ram, and a new SLI motherboard

This is the message I sent to gigabyte regarding the problems I was having... figured maybe you might think of something I have not yet.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought the motherboard and video card as well as ram from Newegg

Upon receipt, The product was carelessly packaged if not damaged I do not know yet.

When I install everything, the computer boots past post, then shuts it's self down. I have isolated everything down to the video card and still the same problem. I have tried 2 different power supplies, and my only troubleshooting option left is to try a new motherboard WHICH I HAVE TO BUY. I am going to test the Asus P5ND2-SLI with Nforce 4 chipset, as I was told the video card is compatible with other motherboards now. In addition to this problem the power adapter cable included with the video card is damaged/defective as the connector is no longer attached to it.

Now, I've used gigabyte motherboards before however, I tend to trust asus, and abit more. This is the 2nd time I go with a name brand I do not fully trust and have gotten screwed out of the deal.

Now I'm stuck with a dual core video card I can not use, and a motherboard which indicates defective nature no matter how I troubleshoot the problem.

The type of ram I'm using is 2 x OCZ PC2-5400 512MB Dual channel.

I'm open to suggestions as to what the problem can be for one, and 2 the most important thing.

I need a new power cable adapter for the video card as I do not want to risk damaging the video card.

When I called your tech support, no disrespect intended but the technician was an idiot. While both power supplies I tried, exhibited the same problem, at one point the technician said my harddrive was the issue, that might have been causing a power problem. If this is true then why do both Powersupplies work with the harddrive on a different computer with a different setup. And I have more than enough wattage to run this video card.

I am currently using a 420 Watt PS, and the 2nd I tried was a 24 pin 550 watt Xeon power supply neither worked on this motherboard with the HD and video card active. Why do I say your technician is an idiot is because even disconnecting the harddrive exhibited the same problem as when it was connected. Which tells me 1 of 3 things.

    1. Motherboard.
    2. Ram
    3. Video card.

Now my money is on the motherboard, because I've encountered off brand motherboards that only support VERY specific types of ram.. which information is never available to consumers by any of your distributors, only on your site, if at all.

    2. The video card had no video annomolies except the same wavey line problem and the shut down after boot, Yes i swapped out the SLI chips both from the motherboard and the video card NEITHER made a difference.

    3. I doubt it's the ram because although your technical specs on this motherboard indicates PC2-6400 compatibility, my CPU is only 800mhz bus compatible, PC2-6400 requires 1066 bus setting and there is no CPU out that I know of that supports a 1066 bus, however PC2-5400 does not, and is compatible with both 800/1066 bus speeds (note: info maybe inaccurate regarding the ram requirement differences between PC2-6400 vs PC2-5400. But at the time when I bought the ram that was the soul reason I bought the 5400 and not the 6400.)

Note: 1 more thing about the bios version and driver version. I can not give this information as 1. I can not read the bios version on the screen because of the wavy lines, and 2. There is no driver version as I can not get the comp to boot into windows much less to install the drivers.

this is an acer aspire lap top. sometimes when i open up web pages they jus seem like they load up too slow. like i have to click on the fucker to make it speed up. and this fuckin thing has a 100gb hard drive and 1024mb ram. i would figure it should be fast as a mofo no?

are you using a broadband connection suchas cable or DSL?

If so there is a few browser tweaks you can do to speed that up.

Also, get in the habbit of removing cookies periodically clearing your browsers cache as well

all of this will help improve browsing performance

unless of course it's LS1 as I see they still have load issues but not as bad as the last time I was here.

Understand though, there are more factors invovled in surfing the web efficiency that most people do not know about or under estimate the effect of just a couple of them

40% of browsing efficiency is dependent on your internet connection... another 40% on the server's internet connection you are trying to communicat with... and 5% due to instability in the internet infrastructure beyond your control, while the last 5% is due to improper maintenance of your personal computer.

    Stanger,

Try the following see if this speeds up your browsing any.

    1. goto tools
    2. goto internet options
    3. click on DELETE FILES select delete all offline
    4. goto Clear History, change that to 3 days instead of 12
    5. You don't have to but you can try deleting cookies as well
    6. click on settings right next to Delete Files
    7. change your Temporary internet files setting from it's current to 80MB, by default you might be running around 300-384MB which is far to excessive and not an optimal setting for broadband connections.
    8. X out of explorer and reload explorer, see if you notice any websites you goto normally loading faster.

Note: Homepage will always load fast and is not a test for browsing speed accuracy, as the homepage is always cached and can be brought up offline with no internet connection.

If this does not work or does little to change the speed, you can try tweaking your browser settings more

    goto www.dslreports.com

goto TOOLS link, and do their speed test first, see if they have any recommendations, after which do their tweak test, and see if they have any recommendations. (if the tweak test shows recommendations.... follow the sites instructions to perform those tweaks which will also boost browsing speed.)

I'm a little surprised with Newegg not packing approriately. This is the total shits as you may have a damaged MB and not know it, hence the fu*ck'd up boot problems.
You should never ever have a problen with new stuff.
It should boot right up where you commence to install drivers and start working immediately on your performance parameters.

    Number 1
I hate anything not made by Intel.
Every sad story I hear with Mobos comes from the cheapys like SOYO and these other no-names with fancy looking boxes.
I think Gigabyte took a turn for the worse so axe that.
Now ECS (Elite Group) has apparently made significant progress as you see the P4 combos being sold more and more.

Asus should be okay and it is the only board I recommend for overclocking.

Either way, by the biggest baddest MB you can for the least expensive price.

Heres the trick with Intel. You have a no hassle return and excahnge overnight for 3 years.
I have made several exchanges with nothing wrong with my Processors nor MB's. It was just for the hell of it to keep my stuff nice and new ... AND UP AND RUNNING !!!!!!!!!

    Problem 1
Your MB must be a dual channel board to accept the OCZ dual channels.
    This is a common mistake.
Also, 5400 sems awfully high, your MB must be able to accept it with a minimum of 400/533/667DDR & DDR2.

The xenon power supply will not work on anything in Pentium 4 without a small cable adapter which is 20/24 pin conversion or reverse.

You must have a newer PCI Express Power supply.

A 1066 in 775 pin is a whole different breed of cat.
It is actually a dual core with this value ~ 4 x 1M (essentially making it a quad core)
It is the baddest ... (except for the new AMD Quad Core)
I believe you must use the new 64 bit Windows XP.
Typically, the MB will be 800/1066 Front side Bus with extended memory capability.

The video card must be 6600 - 7800 PCI Express to be utilized.
Unhook your Monitor from the video card and plug it into your motherboard and install the Extreme Graphics Driver.
This will determine or eliminate if your video card is the culprit.

If you get no boot to windows at all but a black screen with OS falied to boot or no os loaded .. this tyoically means your not getting any memory and this would be the first thing to check. Once again, your DIMMS may be out of range.

Overclocking on an asus is obsolete now with the new stuff out, and is for kids trying to blow sh*it up.

The 955-975 with 1066 EE processors are seriously expensive and their really isn't a program out that exceeds this capability. So wait until the price comes down before making that purchase.

I highly suggest returning everything and opting for an Intel 925-945 MB with an 820 D 2.8ghz Dual Core Processor.
Some nice OCZ at 400/533 (1x 1G) dual channel for a total of 2 gigs is plenty.
This is the hot ticket item now.

And remember, laws of physics say that heat kills (parts and performance) no matter what you *run what you brung* so lots of fans and even watercooling to get some hi-perf.

The motherboard supports PC2-6400 DDR2 RAM 1066 bus, however my CPU is a P4 3.06ghz HT LGA 775 @ 800mhz... so instead of the 6400 I opt'd for the PC2-5400 which is compatible with both 1066 and 800 bus speeds. It's also DDR2 as the pin size is 240pin on the mb and no 168 pin DIM is DDR2 much less 667mhz bus

so I believe my ram is compatible, and regarding the MB it does not have on board video so troubleshooting the default vidoe will not work in my case

also the video card I have is a Gigabyte Dual core 6600 GT SLI, and requires an Nforce 4 chipset SLI motherboard to run all the SLI motherboards that I have seen are 240 pin ram slots none that I found were able to run 168 pin DIMs, so I was forced to upgrade my RAM as well.

The CPU I have is not a true dual core but HT enabled 3.06 ghz, which I run overclocked at 3.2ghz normally

Here's my hardware exactly as it stands

Gigabyte GV-3D1 dual core 6600 GT 256MB DDR3 SLI video card
    Gigabyte 8NSLI-PRO w/ Nforce 4 chipset MB supports 800/1066 bus, 8GB of DDR2 RAM, PC2-5300,5400 (667mhz) PC2-6400 (1066mhz) (2) x16 slots, (3) PCI's (4)DIMM slots @240pin
    2 x OCZ 512MB PC2-5400 DDR2 @667mhz 240pin
    Intel Pentium 4 3.06 ghz w/HT technology LGA 775 @800mhz bus

For some reason I keep thinking I have a compatibility issue in my hardware... but this would be the first time I'm dealing with SLI since the Voodoo2 days

so obviously things are a little different in terms of SLI now a days.

    BTW,

don't get me started on ECS... the horror story I have from them is alot worse than this by a long shot

FYI, the motherboard is a dual channel motherboard as well :P

and the common mistake i make is put the ram in the wrong slots lol which forces me to read the damn book to find out which slots

in either case the problem continues

Yes I was to understand that the new ECS in 945 would be something to look into however I just simply do not trust anything other than Intel.
I hear horror storys from every board except Intel and not too many complaints from ASUS so this too would be acceptable.

concerning the RAM ... You are staggering them yes? That is, 1 stick in DIMM 1 and the other stick in the same place on DIMM 2?

P.S. I'm rarely posting until they fix the server for this forum as I'm unable to even barely log on let alone post.
