Prolly Ford's desire to use that "modular" V8 thing, seems like every V8 they come out with for Mustangs lately is a 5.4 L engine, so since they don't have the cubes, they gotta go f/i. What do you think?

Maybe GM doesn't have the technology to do FI so they do cubes ;-)

I know they can do FI, I was trying to show what a baseless statement it was to claim Ford does FI because they can't do cubes.

    Gold star for you, though.

Gm also had the Syclone and the Typhoon along with the G/N. Ford did away with cubes. You can get big cubes outta mod motors. Hell they just need to do something. But when you dyno a 06 Z06 and it dynoed in the 480's bone stock 500 flywheel F/I is n't gonna be shit.

It has nothing to do with lack of technology. It has to do with the fact they can build a fast, reliable automobile with FI, which in the end is really better than an LS1. I commend ford for not putting weak as hell internals in their cars, and not being afraid to boost. Fact of the matter is a cobra with 2k in it will dominate an Ls1 with 2k in it, retaining full street trim etc.

My car was the fastest cam only car in georgia, and I barely outran a 03 cobra with a pulley, tires and exhaust. And my car went 11.6 compared to the cobras 11.8.

Fact of the matter is, as I said before.. it makes power, its cheap.. and its great for aftermarket.

Since when was a cam swap normal for the average customer?

compare swapping a cam compared to swapping a pulley... no contest.

I don't think they are letting you swap pulleys as easily this time. I think with this car it will require a change in the snout as well.

I agree 100%. Even if you don't like ford's you have to give them credit for building a solid performer.....a solid performer that takes to mods very well none the less.

Disagree...That engine without a supercharger is weak. So the ls1 supercharged is one heck of a horsepowered engine. Power to power my opinion naturally aspirated.....Ls1.

Whats cheap about 40 thousand? Plus the weight of the car. My z with what I have now will givw that car a run for its money on the 1/4 mile track.

And lets not forget what the Z06 will and can do to it. 30grand more but worth every penny.

He was refering to the strength of the engine components (forged internals), not the output.

It might be $40k, but think about where that comes from. Demand. Don't fault Ford for building a car people want to buy.

When my car went 11.6 @ 117. No ls6 intake.. no pulley.. weighing in at 3575.

    6spd.

    That is when.

And this year, its going to be even more brutal cam only.. ofcourse its got a completely forged bottom end and a big shot of juice.

When you want to do something?

No car is worth 30k more than another. Pure BS.

Still trying to figure out when that was. Never heard Mike, Nick, or any of the other guys say anything about it. Just wondering how long ago that was? I believe half of what I see and nothing of what I see.
