The crew had nothing to do with when and under what conditions they were to launch. That was the NASA official's call.

I disagree. If the crew speaks up, they're not going to just go ahead and throw a backup crew in there on the same day and launch anyway. Now it may have been a case of the crew knew, but because of either overconfidence or fear of speaking up, they said nothing. I'd be willing to bet that in the years to follow in the shuttle program, the crew definitely was more "in the loop" on launch conditions, and were likely one of the go/no-go decisions in a long line of them.

I was at the Middle School that McCaulliffe had previously taught at when the shuttle exploded, there were several teachers that knew her, and were obviously very upset. Very rough day.

That's close to home.

I remember hearing about it after leaving school. Didn't watch it. I don't know that TVs were ever used in the classroom there.

I also remember a sick joke about that woman.....
