Headers or stock exhaust manifolds? If you have headers, the nice thing about the MSD wires is that you can bend the boots and they will hold their shape (see pic). This gives you some additional clearance from the header pipes. I also installed a set of DEI heat sleeves in place of the stock steel sleeves.

just stock manifolds for now. probably looking at Kooks LTs with catted y-pipe. I was going to do the SLP LTs, but after reading some reviews they do not seem to be any good, so just pay for Kooks and be done. It will be some time before I do the LT's
    Thanks for sharing

Exactly the setup I run -- Kooks LT's with their catted Y-pipe. You will not be disappointed.

Just curious, but why the catted Y-pipe? It's my understanding that the aftermarket stuff won't pass the sniffer, and if you're in an OBD2 testing state, then it doesn't matter? Me? I would do it simply to comply with laws the require the presence of a cat, even if the inspection does not require a visual check.

Here with a tune aftermarket cats do pass the sniffer test. I have cats just to ensure I pass the visual in case they check for cats. My state is OBDII

The cats for just passing emission's if one has them, I have most of time ran a o/r h-pipe
The laws require a bunch, but its not a pick and choose type thing. I like my cats to be loud, but also with using the LM1 system I would want the cats to keep the noise down, not cuz of the law. This goes a long with if you speed ever which is breaking a law just like running no cats is breaking the law.
also you can run the MIL elinators which trick the computer system in thinking you have cats

I'm just going to run cats, because I do not want it that loud without them, lol
    my 04 mach 1 ran o/r h-pipe with LM1's
my 2013 Mustang GT ran Lund racing ghost cams with o/r h-pipe and no mufflers (was so darn loud) did not work well for road trips
With the T/A running LM1 system I drive 2.5 hours one way to pick up my boys and running o/r mid pipe would just be to loud for that road trip.

    Ah, I see.

ASh, dude... that's a whole lot of loud... if you want to keep the noise down... why the LM exhaust? LOL!!!

We don't have a sniffer where I'm at, but for conscientious reasons, I would go for a catted y-pipe in order to comply since it's "supposed" to be there.

Anyone know what the difference is in horsepower between an ORY and a catted-Y? 1-2%? 10%?

So, I know that OP already bought TR-55s, but I wonder if those are NOS, because NGK does not even advertise them on their own website anymore. They do show a bunch of TR-5s, and the IX Iridiums are rated by NGK as producing the best fuel economy (and are tied with several others for best "performance," whatever that means) out of all the plugs they advertise as fitting the LS1. Assuming this is actually true, it would explain my bump in fuel economy over my previous plugs. Though, that particular plug has the shortest lifespan out of all the options given, as well.

    I'd post a link but....

Anyway, in case anyone is interested, it's not hard to find: just do a make/model/year, and a few different options come up.

Naaman, the difference between having high flow cats and not is probably only about 10 hp if that on most applications.

Also NGK doesn't list all the plugs that actually do fit our cars since I run BRE7 plugs which are two steps colder and they are not listed.

Answering the question as to our car... there had to be something "legal" on it!

    Haha!

I'll probably be doing LTs and Y-pipe next summer, hopefully. Narrowed it down to Kook's or American Racing.

If you do Kook's you might as well do the whole setup through them...Kook's LT's, Kook's true duals over the axle...very VERY nice setup and its all stainless.

Loud is what my 13 Mustang GT was, un-godly loud, lol around town it was fun but the road trips no. The LM1 should work good and that is why I am planning on Kooks LTs with the catted y-pipe, because of running the LM1. Let me see if I can find a video of my 04 mach and 13 GT for you
